Baylor University is officially a joke
Raw Story / By The Associated Press

Clinton nemesis Ken Starr becomes Baylor University president

Baylor University named former Clinton White House nemesis Kenneth Starr its new president on Monday, saying the one-time independent prosecutor's Christian ideals and experience heading a law school made him the ideal candidate to lead the world's largest Baptist university. Starr, whose investigation of the Whitewater land deal and Monica Lewinsky scandal led to Clinton's impeachment (...)

can they afford to have him squander the kind of money he spent on persecuting the Clintons?

3. Ken was just jealous.
Big Bill was gettin' blown and Ken wasn't. By his wife or anyone else.

Baylor has always been a disgrace among the liberals of Texas. I remember, when I was in high school, my parents ranting about our squeaky clean relatives who sent their kids to Baylor, and girls could not wear slacks or shorts ON CAMPUS then. My folks were horrified, and said if they sent my sister and me to a religious school it would have been SMU (Methodist) or Trinity University (Presbyterian). I graduated from Trinity and they had no such silly rules.

4. I graduated from Baylor in 1990, and it had gotten much more moderate by then.
The main things they were still backwards about were no opposite sex visitors in the dorms except during very limited visiting hours, no "immoral cohabitation," and no dancing on campus.

A few years after I graduated, then president Herb Reynolds removed the entire board of regents and installed his own, due to the influence of fundamentalists on the Baptist General Convention of Texas. It was a VERY bold move, and it was the right thing to do to preserve the quality of education there. He also reinstated dancing on campus, and had the first dance with his wife.

Contrary to what some believe, most professors were moderate to even liberal. We discussed abortion in my bioethics class, and my prof was not afraid to state that he was pro-choice, for example. In marriage and family (an elective sociology class) we talked openly about sex, living together, homosexuality, gay marriage, etc.

I am very sad about this decision today. Baylor will no longer be the place I remember. I am not an alumna anymore.

10. Oh, I plan to... the alumni FB page has only negative comments so far....
and a new group has been started to rally people, "Ken Starr should NOT be the Baylor President."

19. It kinda reminds me of Commodore in its final days
as a major influence in the computer market, after they had shitcanned Jack Tramiel.

They brought Alexander Haig on board as a "business consultant."

Then, they went belly up.

20. When Baylor's alumni stop contributing, they'll fire him.
Baptists sending money to a Church of Christ president of their university?!

We'll see how that works out.
