The Economic Elite Have Engineered an Extraordinary Coup, Threatening the Very Existence of the Middle Class
The economic elite have robbed us all. The amount of suffering in the United States of America is literally a crime against humanity.

February 15, 2010 |

"The American oligarchy spares no pains in promoting the belief that it does not exist, but the success of its disappearing act depends on equally strenuous efforts on the part of an American public anxious to believe in egalitarian fictions and unwilling to see what is hidden in plain sight." -- Michael Lind, To Have and to Have Not

We all have very strong differences of opinion on many issues. However, like our founding fathers before us, we must put aside our differences and unite to fight a common enemy.

It has now become evident to a critical mass that the Republican and Democratic parties, along with all three branches of our government, have been bought off by a well-organized Economic Elite who are tactically destroying our way of life. The harsh truth is that 99 percent of the U.S. population no longer has political representation. The U.S. economy, government and tax system is now blatantly rigged against us.

Current statistical societal indicators clearly demonstrate that a strategic attack has been launched and an analysis of current governmental policies prove that conditions for 99 percent of Americans will continue to deteriorate. The Economic Elite have engineered a financial coup and have brought war to our doorstep...and make no mistake, they have launched a war to eliminate the U.S. middle class.

To those who feel I am using extreme rhetoric, I ask you to please take a few minutes of your time to hear me out and research the evidence put forth. The facts are there for the unprejudiced, rational and reasoned mind to absorb. It is the unfortunate reality of our current crisis. ...........(more)

2. The economic elite have pulled this kind of crap throughout history.
Since ALL of our government officials are owned by the economic elite, revolution is the only counter to stop their perpetual extinction of the middle class. The masses are getting more and more angry; revolution will eventually follow.

3. It started with Reagan firing the Air Traffic Controllers. 1981.
He ruined this country.

Union busting and deregulation was only the start of it.

Personality makeup to stand at the helm as the economic mutiny occurs.

For the Nazis, that was Hitler. Forthe Italians, that was Mussolini. (Few people now realize that Benito was one of the most charming figures of the nineteen teens. Artists and writers from all over the world desired his friendship. Women wanted to have affairs with him.)

Our gestalt is such that our President must be someone we can imagine having a beer with (in the case of the Repugs who so liked George Bush.) Or we need our President to be someone we could have a friendly game of hoops with, in the case of Barack Obama. Who cares about the appointments or policies of these two men - the needless wars, the economic Bank giveaways that no longer even trickle down? They reflect our need for our leader being one of us.

It is so very important that we not notice the huge and profound economic changes, that is, the COUP of the OP, occurring on a day by day basis. Notice how very few on TV mention them. McCafferty mentions them. Occasionally Olbermann or Maddow will. But few others.

This coup could not have occurred during the days of Walter Cronkite or Ed Murrow. It took the careful dismantling of the Fourth Estate to bring us to this point.

And our parents and grandparents would not have stood for it either. Even with their HS diplomas, they understood more about economics than many of us with our Masters' degrees.

6. I was just watching Tweety on MSNBC
his guest was William Cohen, Clinton's former Republican Secretary of Defense. He and Tweety (rich guys both) were pontificating about how the country is in the toilet because it is divided by the extremes of left vs. right politics and how the federal government is in gridlock because the politicians won't admit that they can't keep providing goodies like Social Security, Medicare and other social programs to the people for whom the government supposedly exists. You see? It's not the fault of Wall Street, or the Pentagon or Washington. It's your faults! You damn self-serving, overindulgent, pampered plebes!

7. Great article, devastating statistics.
From the article:

In total, Americans have lost $5 trillion from their pensions and savings since the economic crisis began and $13 trillion in the value of their homes.

During the first full year of the crisis, workers between the age of 55 - 60, who have worked for 20 - 29 years, have lost an average of 25 percent off their 401k. "Personal debt has risen from 65 percent of income in 1980 to 125 percent today."

Over five million U.S. families have already lost their homes, in total 13 million U.S. families are expected to lose their home by 2014, with 25 percent of current mortgages underwater. Deutsche Bank has an even grimmer prediction: "The percentage of 'underwater' loans may rise to 48 percent, or 25 million homes." Every day 10,000 U.S. homes enter foreclosure.

Statistics show that an increasing number of these people are not finding shelter elsewhere, there are now over 3 million homeless Americans, the fastest-growing segment of the homeless population is single parents with children.

Side note: Glenn Beck, on his show today, was going after Social Security as a budget breaker. Yet not a word about the elephant in the room - military spending. Oh, his solution is more tax cuts for the rich!
