Rice signals reluctance to testify on Iraq claim

Thu Apr 26, 2007 3:21PM BST

OSLO (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Thursday all but said she will not testify to Congress about a discredited justification for the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq but agreed to answer questions in writing.

Democratic lawmakers on Wednesday approved a subpoena, a form of legal demand, for Rice to appear before Congress to discuss the White House's claim that Iraq had sought uranium from Niger for nuclear arms. The claim was later proven false.

The decision pits the Democrats, who seized control of Congress last year largely because of popular discontent with the war in Iraq, against the Republican White House, which is trying to fend off demands that it withdraw U.S. troops.

The subpoena for Rice, approved by a congressional committee led by California Democrat Rep. Henry Waxman, was part of a flurry of action in the stepped-up congressional oversight of how the Bush administration operates.

1. Honestly...
I think it's because she's an arrogant POS member of the shrub administration that doesn't feel the law applies to her. She's no better than the rest of the pricks in that building.

3. And why is hannity and limbaugh scared to death of the FAIRNESS Doctrine?
These honorable members of the party of integrity sure are chickenshit when it comes to honesty. Hold the bitch in contempt of congress and drag her ass into testify and spread the airwaves with every conceivable talking point method to get the message out - obviously she and bush have something to hide about lying our way to war.

6. Because the truth is so ugly she has to keep selling the lie.
Just delays the downfall of her, bush, and company by a week or so.

Lying to get us into a war = treason = impeachment ... and the repugs
will lead the way if they want to keep their jobs.

7. All the criminals with in the bu$h regime think they are above the law
They all have the belief that they do not have to abide by any Constitution or any other laws.
They are so full of themselves that they anointed themselves supreme rulers and any laws indicating otherwise are worthless and refuse to acknowledge them.

11. Prison
She's probably terrified of losing everything and going to prison for either the rest of her life or a very long time, which ever comes first, or she's afraid that her husband may follow after her.

Either way she's just prolonging the inevitable, the only thing i see in any of these assholes future is disgrace and imprisonment.
