What Do You Think Tea Party Movement Is About?
By You Decide
- FOXNews.com

How to define the Tea Party movement was nearly as big an issue last week at the National Tea Party Convention as the political issues discussed, from government fiscal responsibility to greater accountability of public officials. Some participants drew cheers for raising more controversial topics, such as President Obama's nationality, but others argued that those points were, at best, politically unproductive. Meghan McCain went further on Monday and called segments of the movement "racist."

Small government and fiscal responsibility 12% (30,626 votes)

Exposing Democrats' socialist agenda 1% (2,410 votes)

Voicing outrage at out-of-touch politicians 4% (11,476 votes)

Fruitless mix of racism, conspiracy theories 82% (213,778 votes)

Other (add your comment) 1% (1,551 votes)

Total Votes: 259,841

2. Fox News = GOP, which is now threatened by the Tea Baggers.
Edited on Mon Feb-15-10 01:34 AM by TexasObserver
The GOP created the Tea Baggers to focus their crazies against Democrats last year, but they've lost control of the movement, and now the Tea Baggers are running candidates against rank and file business GOPers. This cannot be allowed.

That's why Glenn Beck tries to take out the GOP Tea bagger in Texas challenging Kay Bailey Hutchinson and Rick Perry. That's why they ran this poll. These results may not even be real. They are trying to convince their viewers that tea baggers have things to say the GOP likes, but they're too fringe to represent the GOP.

The GOP is trying to contain the tea baggers, and see the potential for Palin to split off the tea baggers in a run for vanity in 2012.

11. Many of those thoughts have cross my mind, TexasObserver
and the truth of the matter lies somewhere therein - at a minimum, the GOP is working feverishly to contain the tea baggers and maintain some sort of damage control. It would seem logical that Fox would be called upon to assist in the matter. It will be interesting to see how all this plays out. In the meantime, on the Tea Party discussion boards that I am now a member of ( :D ) the members are all aghast that Fox would betray them, insisting it be deleted and running various scenarios through their discussion boards about how the liberals fixed the poll and about how much a dangerous threat they all must be for liberals to go to such extremes to slant a Fox News poll ("... they are getting very worried about us."). Only one poster was relatively sane about the matter, stating, well, out of 200,000 responses, %81 is pretty darn high, but still concluded that the fix was in.

13. They've created a monster and can't get control of it.
I think they're afraid of Sarah Palin really going rogue on them, like Perot did.

4. Possibly a flare warning signal
if the GOP really do read F*x. Or maybe it's a "Ha, Ha" taunt.

14. Doesn't matter. All they need is 90% of Americans deciding democracy is fruitless
and wouldn't you know it, the Senate is working hard to make that impression happen.
