Fixing The Filibuster
I believe the filibuster rule should be modified for most legislation. However, for judicial appointments a cloture rule should be retained. These are lifetime appointments, and if an right-wing ideologue is appointed, there will be no way to get rid of him. These appointments should be by consensus. There should be a 2/3 majority for judicial appointments. I wouldn't want a far left-wing ideologue on the bench either.

1. I got one recommendaion
Require that when one side filibusters, they are required to actually talk.

Right now it seems the GOP just says it will filibuster w/o actually doing so.

MAke them stand there and talk and explain on CSPN for hours and hours why taxpayers don't deserve health care or jobs.

2. The fillibuster should be 'fixed' in the same sense as a dog or cat.
It should be fixed so that it will no longer reproduce itself.

Bad idea to retain it for judicial picks: a MODERATE appointee would face a GOP filibuster nowadays -- as Sotomayor nearly did.
