In 50 years Historians will be astounded at the stupidity of Repub Party Leaders at this time
There is no end to the list of Repub Leaders who insist on ignoring reality, lack intelligence and experienced needed to hold the positions they possess, and for the most part are just intellectually incurious about the world as a whole.

We look at George W. Bush and realize that he was a mental lightweight who never should have come close to the White House --and wouldn't have if his last name hadn't been Bush.

Then Sarah Palin hits the national scene and is so beloved by her Repub Party supporters. How do we explain someone who knows so little about the job she was seeking, and is so arrogant to think she is qualified to be the leader of the free world?

I tell you, the last 10 years are in the running for the award of 'all-time decade of stupid Repub politicians.'

Dan Quayle, then there was Ronald Reagan (who declared catsup a vegetable). The I.Q. of the leadership of the Republican party never hit the 3 digit mark in a loooong time

3. I considered Ronnie Rayguns and Dan "Potatoe" Quail....
But when it comes to pure ignorance and arrogance blended together with intellectual incurosity, George W and Sarah P are hard to beat.

6. In 50 years they will all be gone, and their entire records will be set and viewed
against the backdrop of events that followed them.

Reagan may have done the most damage to our country economically with his 'trickle down' economics and massive debts. But Reagan cannot match the pure stupidity of the hundreds of 'Bushisms.'

As far as Palin goes, she is a flash in the pan --but one that will paint the Repub Party accurately for this time period for embracing her.

9. In 50 years, it's possible that no one will even care about history...
Thanks to the predominance of Republican rule over the past 60 years, the incremental and deliberate dumbing-down of everything, including:

-The starvation of public education
-Ending the Fairness Doctrine an the subsequent balkanization of news reporting
-Inclusion of creationist dogma in school textbooks
-The dismissal of knowledge and intelligence as elitism
-The denial of science (global warming, stem-cell research)
-The revisionist right-wing dumping its sewage into the American consciousness on a continuing basis
-The fascination of form over content

These (and many other) malignancies all could render history irrelevant. A line has to be drawn, and this trend has to be forcibly pushed back. If not, the game is over.

10. The whole thing with Palin (and Shrub)
reminds me of being a little kid and watching Howdy Doody. We knew he was a puppet. Nobody ever tried to tell us he was anything else. There was always, ALWAYS the sense with Shrub that somebody was pulling the strings, pushing the levers; same for Palin. And yet there were those who refused to see the strings and levers. At some point I think even Shrub had an inkling of his real status. Palin, on the other hand, keeps flopping around on the stage, willing to perform for anyone who picks up the strings. Creepy, really.
