Al Gore might be the Democrats strongest choice for 2008, a new poll showed Thursday
Republican Rudolph Giuliani is favored over Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton for the US presidency in three key electoral states, while ex-vice president Al Gore might be the Democrats strongest choice for 2008, a new poll showed Thursday.

The Quinnipiac University poll showed that former New York mayor Giuliani, who is leading the race for the Republican presidential nomination, would beat Democrat Senator Clinton solidly in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The three populous states are seen as crucial swing states in any election, with their voters never clearly in the Republican or Democrat camp.

However, the Quinnipiac numbers showed that non-candidate Gore, who lost the 2000 presidential race to George W. Bush in a controversial Florida showdown, could do better than Clinton against Giuliani in those states. Giuliani led the now-global warming activist 47-43 percent in Florida and the two were tied at 44 percent each in Pennsylvania.

1. America voted for him in 2000, after all. We did it before, and if
we contain the election hackers, we can do it again.

4. The weird irony is if Giuliani...
Continues to poll ahead of whoever the DEM front runner is - that more then anything may inspire Al to jump in next Fall.

Talk about hitting a grand slam home run in the 9th inning as a walk on player!

He would!!!!

11. My sentiments exactly. It's not that I don't like any of them. I do (with one exception) but none
of them fire me up like Al Gore. I truly believe he could announce today and jump to the head of the class. I have heard he is waiting for his book to come out. I have my fingers crossed!

12. I had the honor of
seeing and hearing Al Gore in person tonight, at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, and we gave him Standing OOOOOOOOOOs and Huge Applause throughout and lots of loud whistles, from me among others.

Over a thousand people were truly inspired (my sister was very impressed) by Gore's passionate, very humorous lecture on our Global Warming Crisis. He had me slapping my knee he was so funny..and had some us in tears with the emotional impact of what the corporatations and the media are doing in the name of the almighty buck.

Gore was Pumped tonight and I keep thinking how brilliant he is and what we missed as our President..I think he's honestly happy and content with how and what he's doing to help us.

A miracle could happen but that's not the way he looks at it now as far as I can see.

31. Gore was amazing even to me..
and I've always liked him since I first started paying attention to politics, which really wasn't that long ago, in 2000. My sister, who is a Dem, but didn't know Gore that well was really impressed with his Passion!

Gore's new book, "Assault On Reason" should be dynamite reading..there's was no way he wouldn't write a book about the scourge that took over our country. It's like the Assault On Our Environment.

I just wrote about it in my journal today, and am anticipating it greatly. I've supported him since 1988, and I can sense that right now he is at a place in his life where he is fulfilled, and where he can truly do good things on a grassroots level. He truly is an inspiration.

There is now ZERO question in my mind. This country, the world, Earth as a whole NEEDS him to be President and anything less likely won't have strong enough policies to save this planet from the recklessness us humans have chosen to engage in on a daily basis.

37. Unfortunately this calls for an intervention
When someone is addicted to drugs or alcohol and desperately needs help they need a friend to intervene and save them from themselves and their addictions.

American politicians are addicted to oil. Without someone up there willing to help change course the addiction will continue until we have a full blown overdose.

Corporations must be targeted first and citizens will come around based on the changes they are presented with. The only way to change the laws that currently allow the corporations to rape our environment is to get that friend who is strong enough to intervene to run for President.

38. Citizens have TO MAKE the change
And Al Gore has done more than most already to help us all along on that road. He already IS standing up to corporations. Aren't you listening to his speeches and following what he is now doing? Although I rarely if ever see a post here about what those who idolize him now are actually doing themselves to help with this crisis. Now why is that? Harrassing and begging him to do something he already is doing seems counterproductive to me when people should be writing LTE, holding this corrupt media accountable, and pushing Congress to uphold their DUTY NOW to impeach the socioapths in this government NOW instead of begging him to run as if he is stupid regarding the world situation. He is totally aware of the world's condition which is why he is out here doing all that he is doing and trying to inspire US to do what we must do, which seems to me to be underappreciated by many. He tried doing it in the beltway for THIRTY YEARS and he got the finger regarding this issue. I think it is time for a different approach, and if you actually are following what is going on his approach appears to be working. And for him andmany others who do see the big picture that is really the most important thing. Not the title with little assurance of success, but the results gained now because we are running out of time to address this climate crisis.

39. Actually the point I was making is he would be the one who WOULD stand up to corporations
Not sure if you misunderstood me there. He's the only guy I get the feeling that will do the necessary things to change the policy.

People can change all they want. Politicians however refuse to change policies in defiance of their constituants' will because of the money those corporations give them.

It is my belief Al Gore would be the man to stand up to them and the elected official who could actually change the policy.

40. And how does one man do that without YOU speaking out?
On second thought, forget answering that question. If you don't think he is standing up to corporations and inspiring groups of citizens to make them change their ways now and how WE msut be that change, then you have no grasp of what you speak about.

23. I love Al Gore, but this article is just STUPID
Edited on Fri Apr-27-07 11:55 AM by kay1864
Let's take a look at the numbers, shall we?

Giuliani lead against Clinton:
OH: 8
FL: 5
PA: 4

Giuliani lead against Gore:
OH: 8
FL: 4
PA: 0

Thus we get Gore's theoretical advantage over Clinton:
OH: 0
FL: 1
PA: 4

Now let's look at the margin of error in the poll data:

+/- 3 percent in each state That's a 6 percent range. Giuliani's PA lead against Clinton could be anywhere between 1 and 7. Against Gore, anywhere between 3 and -3. We just don't know where. According to this poll, Clinton could lose PA by 1%, and Gore could lose by 3%.

This margin of error means there is no clear advantage of Gore over Clinton. Thus the article's headline has no basis in fact. The difference between the two is just too small to get excited about.

Still: GO AL GO!

27. Is that before or after he loses weight?
I mean, that's the prerequisite for him, right? Or before or after he raises and wastes money that could be used to solving this crisis? Or before or after he wastes time mudslinging instead of discussing issues? Because political campaigns in this country are not of substance, but of polls. Who in their right mind would waste close to 50 million dollars on ads and BS in a political campaign unless they were totally ego driven? Sorry, I do not see Mr. Gore doing that now regardless of any poll.
