Michigan Christians sue because the Matthew Shepherd Act restricts their rights.
Four Christians on Tuesday filed a federal lawsuit challenging the recently enacted Hate Crimes Prevention Act, arguing that it seeks to criminalize deeply held religious beliefs that are in opposition to homosexuality.

The new law, the lawsuit contends, "is an effort to eradicate religious beliefs opposing the homosexual agenda from the marketplace of ideas by demonizing, vilifying, and criminalizing such beliefs as a matter of federal law and policy."

The 27-page long complaint was submitted by the Thomas More Law Center on behalf of Gary Glenn of the American Family Association of Michigan and Pastors Levon Yuille, James Combs, and Rene B. Ouellette, who are also based in Michigan. It names U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr., as the defendant.

Yuille, pastor of The Bible Church in Ypsilanti and host of a radio talk show, says he is often warned by his Canadian listeners that he will be prosecuted under the Hate Crimes Act for his public ministry the same way ministers in Canada are being silenced under a similar law.

5. How about my belief
that all fundamentalists be whipped naked through the streets of a major city every time they piss me off. I should sue for that, being allowed to watch that would be pretty damned near a religious experience for me.

11. I have two words for these guys.
"Fred Phelps".

As long as Fred Phelps is out there spewing his bile without being censored, what are they worried about? Are they saying that they're worse than Fred Phelps? Is that even possible? Until Fred Phelps is silenced, they have nothing to fear about that.

12. This is what has them worried in Michegan?
Why don't they focus on the economic issues that are hitting families there? But no, they want to be able to hate more.

13. "deeply held", my ass. . .
These bigots consciously CHOSE their beliefs based on nothing more than a desperate desire to establish some sort of social caste system which gives themselves an advantage over others. These are the same kind of people who regularly demand special rights from everyone else the moment they open their piehole and utter the "I'M A CHRISTIAN" line.

You can bet that if some other group of Americans proclaimed "I'm a CHristian" and can't perform our public ministry without demonizing members of The Bible Church, these clowns would be the first screaming for the government to intervene and persecute the perpetrators as committing a "hate crime" against their church.

The fact that the willfully ignorant Yulle tries to cite "Canadian listeners" as his reasoning to fight an AMERICAN law just shows how desperate and despicable these people are - they will create fear out of anything joyous in life because even their chosen "faith" is dependent upon living in fear of God - and their fellow human beings.

Frankly, we should be differentiating these folks from other "Christians" by correcting the media when they quote them - and insisting they be called "Fear Christians" or at the very least "alleged Christians" or "self-proclaimed Christian" since they never seem to have to prove their point. After all, the media has no problem referring to a gay person as a "gay Christian" rather than just a "Christian"...yet these bearers of false witness screaming the con-artist, con-servative mantra never seem to be held to further accuracy or scrutiny.
