New Poll Results Are Proof That Republicans Don't Think
I realize it seems obvious, but I thought it was still an interesting read from Alternet.

http://www.alternet.org/news/145569/new_poll_results_ar...

A poll commissioned by DailyKos shows just how far to the right the GOP has been dragged by its right wing...and how far out of step they are with the rest of America.

Do you believe Sarah Palin is more qualified to be President than Barack Obama?
Yes 53
No 14
Not Sure 33

Should same-sex couples be allowed to marry?
Yes 7
No 77
Not Sure 16

Should public school students be taught that the book of Genesis in the Bible explains how God created the world?
Yes 77
No 15
Not Sure 8

Taken as a whole, the Kos data shows a Republican party that's falling farther and farther out of touch with the American mainstream. More interestingly: it also suggests a party that's falling into a concentration-of-craziness pattern that doesn't happen in healthy political movements, but is very typical of authoritarian groups in the middle-to-last stages of decline.

1. Rec. I certainly hope you are right about the decline part. I'd really
hate to see them take over the entire country because we were too complaisant to resist them.

3. I think
as long as we don't let a small cadre of idiots push an agenda they'll just wither away (for a while). They thrive in complacency.

4. "very typical of authoritarian groups in the middle-to-last stages of decline."
This supposedly dying political party just captured Ted's senate seat and is threatening to take control of congress in 2010. We snicker at their idiocy and insanity at our own peril. Their bagnut faction is well funded, has unlimited media access, and has captured the populist zeitgeist and is using it to further their insane goals. Laugh all you want, they are dangerous.
