IRS Cited By DNR For Nonpayment

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The IRS has failed to pay a small state hazardous waste fee that's more than three years overdue, and the Department of Natural Resources has sent the matter to the state attorney general's office.

The $172.50 hazardous waste fee is from 2006, when the Internal Revenue Service moved a processing center into Kansas City's former main post office. The fee is required of businesses that generate, handle or dispose of hazardous waste.

The Department of Natural Resources says the IRS processing center is among 18 businesses whose cases were sent to the attorney general's office to pursue legal action because they haven't paid fees from 2006 and 2007.

And they redid it making one of the prettier buildings in the city an ugly eyesore.

I was down there today. Whoever designed that structure needs to apologize to the people of Kansas City.
