Franken Urges Holding Elected Officials Accountable After He Tries To Hold David Axelrod Accountable

Sen. Al Franken, who gained some notoriety yesterday for pigeonholing David Axelrod on the lack of White House leadership on health care, told about 1,000 activists on a call held by Health Care for America Now that “we can and will pass” a comprehensive bill in the coming weeks. He and his allies at HCAN basically framed the issue as one of Congressional will, not a problem of procedural hurdles.
Franken cited the recent study showing health care spending outpacing GDP, under current law, over the next ten years, reaching to a level of 19% of total GDP by 2020. This is proof that “The path we’re on is unsustainable,” according to the Minnesota Senator.

He implored activists to not let up and to continue to
“hold your elected officials accountable” until a bill is passed.
