Do you think the two parties keep each other in check?
Or is one party edging out over the other. Also, do think that one party could become so powerful to the point that our two party system becomes a one party state?

1. We already have a de facto one party state.
The proverbial "Dimes worth of difference" has shrunk to a wooden nickel.

9. We've had a one party state ever since Reagan was in office
He was followed by DLC member Clinton, then the Chimperor, and now New Democrat Obama.

13. In theory, yes.
In recent practice, no.

What has the Democratic party done to represent their constituents, and keep corporations out of the legislative process? Not one single goddamned thing!

Who are they keeping in check? Us.

19. yes. i think a repub president with a dem congress
or vice versa is often a good combo. because the ultimate goal of both parties is to increase govt. power and act statist.

they just do it in different ways.

clinton was a very successful presidency. partly because he was partially stifled by an opposing congress.

it's a yin/yang thang

Amusing us with their games and stylized dog-and-pony shows that are getting so dumb it is amazing that anyone even buys it anymore.

Without the greatest Propaganda Machine in All of Human History, they could never do it, but the RW Lie machine and the "me too" Corporate M$M lend verisimilitude to the Big Lie, using all the massive power of the sciences of psychology, both statistical and behavioral, advertsing, marketing and PR.
