From the state of crazy: Democrat lies so he can get publicity

PAOLA | A longshot Democratic candidate in the Kansas governor's race says he lied about pulling out of the race so he could get publicity.

Herbert West distributed a statement Sunday indicating he would call it quits after pulling out of the race one other times. He said he planned to make it official Monday but instead admitted he had been fibbing.

West said he feels coverage of his campaign is deficient. The high school dropout lives on Social Security and Medicare and had been largely ignored by party officials.

Democrats could soon have another candidate. State Sen. Tom Holland, a Democrat from Baldwin City, is expected to announce his candidacy soon. Marty Mork of Wichita also plans to seek the Democratic nod.
