11. Aside from the misguided libertarian bias of the poll..
ending government "barriers" to international free trade -- not a conservative idea - it's a RADICAL CORPORATIST idea
privatizing Social Security -- not a conservative idea - it's a RADICAL CORPORATIST idea
ending government welfare -- not a conservative idea - it's a RADICAL CORPORATIST idea

Those supposed "libertarian" proposals would ensure the enslavement of the great majority of working people.

but it's good to get some affirmation occasionally. FWIW, a lot of those questions would apply to small-L libertarians as well. The big-L variety? No so much; they're too busy trying to justify calling corporations 'people' to score 'liberal' on this test.

25. I had the same issue with other questions.
Even though I came out "liberal," I don't think ALL drugs should be legal, I don't think ALL sex between consenting adults should be legal (I don't agree with legalized prostitution. The rest is OK. I'm a feminist and most prostitution subjects women) and I don't want to cut taxes and spending except on the military.

28.  I got "liberal". But I think those questions are very inaccurately worded.
"Cut taxes and government spending by 50% or more"

Who is being taxed and what is being spent on?

"End "corporate welfare." No government handouts to business. "

Which businesses?

"Military service should be voluntary. There should be no draft."

Which answer is "liberal"? I think both answers can be argued to be liberal.
I put "maybe". I think a "citizens army" can have certain benefits over a
all-volunteer force. But I also don't believe in forcing people to fight in
a war, moreover in a unjust one.

"Government should not censor speech, press, media or Internet."

I saw a guy punch a skinhead once for wearing a swastika, and
tell him "we don't tolerate intolerance here". Is the guy who punched
the skinhead a liberal? I think it can be liberal to place bounds on
hate-speech. Still, I picked "agree", because overall I do believe in freedom
of speech, especially I believe in demonstrations not being broken up by
cops.

"Repeal laws prohibiting adult possession and use of drugs."

Weed, shrooms or meth? I think there is a difference.

LIBERALS usually embrace freedom of choice in personal matters, but tend to support significant government control of the economy. They generally support a government-funded "safety net" to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations, defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles.

CENTRISTS espouse a "middle ground" regarding government control of the economy and personal behavior. Depending on the issue, they sometimes favor government intervention and sometimes support individual freedom of choice.

Centrists pride themselves on keeping an open mind,

tend to oppose "political extremes," and emphasize what

they describe as "practical" solutions to problems.

Government should not censor speech, press, media or Internet.
I agree if it refers to freedom of speech for human beings and news agencies.
I disagree if it includes unlimited corporate spending on election campaigns.

End "corporate welfare." No government handouts to business.
I agree if it refers to legislation purchased by special interests.
I disagree if it means the government should not provide financial incentives for renewable energy sources.

"End "corporate welfare." No government handouts to business."

Disagreeing gives you 0 points on the economic scale and picking Maybe gives you 10, while agreeing that corporations shouldn't get government handouts gives you 20. (On the economic scale, a lower score indicates farther to the left.)

68. Social Security is NOT a Retirement Plan
Question # 8 "Let people control their own retirement; privatize Social Security."

Social Security IS Not nor has it ever have been a individual Retirement Program, Social Security is a Insurance Plan, always has been. Read the Social Security Charter.

That's the big problem with the Social Security Debate..most think it is an IRA...SS cannot be fixed until until people really understand what it is in the first place.

BTW my score solid Liberal, as I like to say to the Cons I work with, I am so liberal I make Jane Fonda look like a hard core conservative.
