The President is psychologically beating up the repubs
Proposing popular policies to help the working men and women in America and increase taxes on large corporations who don't. If they applaud him they lose their teabag cred, if they don't they pubicly demonstrate they don't care about average Americans.

Keep smacking them around Mr. President.

in a little over a year. Congratulations.

28. He refuses to set up villains and fight. Cold technocratic lists ain't going to go over well
with an angry, resentful electorate who DOES in fact want to punish the banks.

27. Your attitude is showing there, and it's ugly. You are just not a dem.
Hell, I don't have a clue what you are, where you live, or what your points usually are. You seem to praise rethugs inordinately. That's enough proof for me.

37. Not a timid complict panderer- that's for sure- so maybe you're right
As to the bizarre bit about Republicans- that's Obama up there going on about bipartisanship- and meeting with House Republicans who want nothing other than to bring him down at every turn.

14. Ahhh, that old thing?
Thanks for remembering. I posted much for a while because I am discouraged by some of the attitudes here and I remember what it was like to be really demoralized. Are we where we need to be? No. But we are in a hell of a lot better shape than we were when I posted that.

18. As a newbie then, I will never forget that. You gave me lots of hope
when I was so down. And yes, we are in a better place. Too bad there are so many people who forget that.

But thank you for that, Stephen, for uplifting us in our time of need.

12. yeah, I was kind of worried about tonight
but he is owning the pubs.

I love how the the repubs would only stand when he mentioned capital gains tax cuts, and practically for nothing else including the middle class across the board tax cuts.

33. President O is slicing and dicing the repukes tonight!
Paraphrasing, he said, "Republicans believe that tax cuts to the rich, lowering the investment in our own people and keeping the status quo on healthcare will reduce the deficit. The problem is; that's what we did for eight years."

And it didn't do us one bit of good.

34. That's how I see this too
He's sticking it to Congress and then watching them clap for him. It's kind of funny. This is a great Obama speech. It's not FDR like, it's not Reagan like, it's not Clinton like. He is being the guy who got him into office and staying himself. I hope he keeps his advocacy up. He just promised to be a bully for the American people against Congress. I think people will like this a lot.

36. Obama has a massive audience tonight.
He is, with clarity, but properly making it clear that is was the Bush's/Republicans/Neo-Conservatives who made this disaster, not he.
