George Bush believes he will set the record straight with his memoir, due out later this year

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localn...

<snip>

"I'm sure he appreciates it when others speak up to defend him," said Karen Hughes, who was a top Bush adviser in Austin and Washington.

Hughes, an executive with a global communications firm, still guides some of the Bush Foundation's media operations. Ever the loyalist, she hopes that history will "set the record straight" on Bush's eight-year tenure.

Longtime observers say Bush believes he will set the record straight with his memoir, which will be released later this year. He started writing it the day after he left office and is nearly finished.

"I don't think Bush is obsessed with being loved by Americans in the near term," said Robert Draper, author of Dead Certain, a portrait of the final years of the Bush administration. "George W. Bush has been around long enough to know that poll numbers are snapshots."

Still, Bush will probably win over fellow Texans quicker than he will anyone else, Draper said.

"There was a level of disdain for Bush that seemed out of proportion to what he'd done. It was almost primal," he said. "There isn't a lot in the way of nostalgia for Bush."

9. I might not buy TWO copies, one to not read and one to not give as a gift.
The fact that he thinks he can "set the record straight" is yet more proof of Bush's tiny-brain problem. Telling MORE lies to cover your original lies does a lot of things, but straightening the record ain't one of 'em.

it's gonna take an entire box of blue crayons just to color the waters of the levees breaking during hurricane Katrina.

17. would he write about Katrina in his memoir?
Hell, would he actually call it a memoir? Does he know what that word even means? Maybe we should refer to it as "all about me storytellin'"

:shrug:

14. History will set the record straight alright, W as worst president

And how many times will 9/11 be referenced in the book I wonder. He said it nearly every other sentence in his presidency, so should be used hundreds of times throughout the book no doubt.

I guess that's the 'primal' response the article mentions, however I don't feel it is over-the-top at all.

26. Let's see -
Two unnecessary wars, two nation-shaking disasters, two recessions - if the level of disdain for him is out of proportion, it is because it is too muted.
