Washington Examiner stocks up on Washington Times columnists

For the editors of The Washington Examiner, instability at The Washington Times is offering a chance for the free tabloid to amp up its already large stable of conservative opinion writers.
....

Cal Thomas, whose column was syndicated in the Times for 25 years, recently moved over to the Examiner. And now, the Examiner has recently struck a deal with Creators Syndicate, which could lead to a migration of some conservative columnists from the Times.

Starting next month, the Examiner plans to run columns by 18 Creators writers, including Bill O’Reilly, Michelle Malkin, David Limbaugh, Pat Buchanan, John Stossel and Larry Kudlow.

It should be noted that the Times has been running more original than syndicated content since changing its format this month, and some of the boldface columnists now appearing in the Examiner weren't regularly in the Times opinion pages.

Examiner owner Phil Anschutz, a publicity-shy billionaire who gives generously to Republican causes, has allowed the Examiner to expand while so many papers across the country contract. Additions over the past year have included Byron York, Michael Barone and David Freddoso. Anschutz also bought The Weekly Standard from Rupert Murdoch over the summer.

1. Washington Examiner
More free birdcage liner that's given out every morning at Metro stops. Not worth the trees cut down for the paper it's printed on. Now even less so.

3. The Moonies Times have never made money
"publicity-shy billionaire" -- aren't most billionaires publicity shy? You know from family experience and security?
