"Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose"
There's quite a bit of discussion about how today's SCOTUS decision in Citizens United v. FEC has liberal, progressive and moderate congressmen quaking in fear at the prospect (certainty?) of being totally blown away in the next election by the just ungodly amounts of money that corporate America will use to fund their conservative-whore opponents. I think they should calm down and re-evaluate their situations.

What the hell do they have to lose? Their ONLY chance to survive or at least extract a price for their defeat is to stand up and fight every day left to them in their terms. SCREW cordiality and collegiality and all the other nauseating euphemisms for "polite" discussion and debate. Stand up and tell C-SPAN and the world that America is being bent over the table and raped by big banks, big oil, big pharma, big money. Name names and spend the time, on the record, to explain how the megabanks are borrowing billions OUR money for zero interest and then loaning it back to us (buying government-backed securities, T-bills, etc.) for 3.5% or so. Can I get some of that? Can you?

Explain how some of our tax money is being funneled through front groups like the US Chamber of Commerce to oppose health care. The bastards are using our money to make sure we have to continue overpaying for health care.

What are these members of congress risking if they do this? The only alternative is to go out whining and cringing. To hell with that. Raise some hell! Start something!

1. K & R and how do we make our voices heard?
We are certainly being raped, but with the mass media carefully crafting the entire discussion of anything and everything, how do we make our voices heard? If the NY Times and NPR don't recognize it as a fit subject for discussion, it won't get discussed.

I and many others have been thinking about this question for years. One good idea that's out there right now, is to starve large corporations, as best we can, of our business. If your money's in Citibank, move it to a small, sound local bank or credit union. All large corporations get their money from us. We can still vote with our business, if that's all they understand.

Anyone else with an idea should post it.
