The "Revolution" WILL be televised after all...
<rant>

We are apparently now set to be subjected to an endless stream of Orwellian political messages from soulless greedy corporations to convince us that up is down, black is white, and their best interests are in our best interests.

If watching cable news shows with their endless corporate advocacy ads telling us to call our Congressmen to oppose the public option or telling us that coal is good or that oil is good or that corn sweeteners are good raise your blood pressure...

If ads telling you you can lower your blood pressure or grow longer lashes or have a bigger erection raise your ire...

You haven't seen anything yet.. it won't just be Fox News or "24" any more folks... they will flood our public airwaves with propaganda the likes of which have not been seen since Goebbels in Nazi Germany.

This court ruling is disastrous, it is ludicrous, it is a perversion of the original intentions of the Founding Fathers - in short it is the short road to fascism, brought to you by these corporate sponsors...

1. And there will be laws written to protect them
and if people feared the police state... watch.

Been there, done that, seen that movie...

5. "It Can't Happen Here" by S. Lewis. A novel that is scary, but seems real now.

6. you say "been there", etc.
Would you mind sharing a bit more of your experience?
To what exactly are you referring?
There may be lessons in it for us.

7. Mexico during the 1970s under the dictablanda run by the PRI
after the student revolt in 1968...

The police recorded calls, especially foreign calls. All currency was controlled and people were afraid to speak in public, especially foreign calls, against the government.

Death squads or the army, your choice, disappeared over 1000 people.

As a kid I learned to watch what I said and to whom.

Years later as a Red Cross worker I heard even worst stories from people coming from El Salvador and Nicaragua...

Those were not dictablanda. Mexico was. We had elections, regular transfer of power and laws in the books guaranteeing freedom of speech. All of this was Ersatz Democracy. Which is pretty much what we have had for now almost ten years. The curtain is now off the wall, to paraphrase pink floyd.

8. Thank you.
I appreciate you sharing that.

The Court decision to day was a final nail. The charade is over. More and more pretense has been stripped away.
THAT is what I have found most unnerving...the Corpocracy has expended less and less effort to
operate under a veneer of democracy.

10. This may precipitate a turning away
from buying a lot of stuff. Just like people are turning away from using Big Banks.
I sure hope so. We need more buy local options.

11. Politics and product sales may appear
in the same commercial to make the best use of the limited air time available.

So Coke might be advertised along with a campaign spot for Obama.

We'll be told something like "an Obama nation drinks Coke."blah, blah, blah...
