In Europe he would be considered real far right of center.

5. I agree.
IMHO, choice #1 seems to be what he's already doing. :-(

Not that I'm bashing the president, would vote for him again tomorrow, and he sure was left with a hell of a mess to clean up. x(

2. I think he will give up completely and retire now that the GOP has
41 out of 100 votes...

Just like Bush quit he was faced with a 50 50 split from 2001-03.

Or when Bush had to deal with a 51 GOP majority from 2003-05.

Or when Bush had to deal with 55 seat GOP majority from 2005-07.

It's totally ridiculous that the GOP can operate with a bare majority and the Dems can only operate with a 60 vote majority.

They should be ashamed of themselves for acting like bullied kids on a freakin elementary school yard...

8. +1 on your final sentence
Was about to agree with the next to last "can only operate' but caught myself. They can't seem to "operate" no matter what numbers they have.

3. Congress will no pass anything that the Republicans can bet with a fillibuster...
Obama will be irrelevant, because he can not pass legislation, only veto it or sign it. Executive ordrs are limited in what they can do.

7. We already know what he will do: he plans "combative response"
There won’t be any grand proclamation that “the era of Big Government is over” — the words President Bill Clinton uttered after Republicans won the Congress in the 1990s and he was forced to trim a once-ambitious agenda.

“The response will not be to do incremental things and try to salvage a few seats in the fall,” a presidential adviser said. “The best political route also happens to be the boldest rhetorical route, which is to go out and fight and let the chips fall where they may. We can say, ‘At least we fought for these things, and the Republicans said no.’”

It was just posted.
