Scott Brown is Going to Win
The base is demoralized, and will not give the opponent of Scott Brown the push she needs to win the Senate race on Tuesday. As a result, health care "reform" will most likely fail and the Democrats will fail to deliver on anything else this year. Furthermore, this will result in a negative reaction that will be felt, very painfully, in November.

I hope I am wrong. I really really hope I'm wrong. But the pendulum is clearly swinging to Brown's side, and this so - called "upset" will not be enough to wake up the Democrats from the stupor they put themselves in after the November 2008 election. The Democrats and our President tried to please everyone and have ended up pleasing no one, especially those they need to win elections.

I call this a "so - called" upset because anyone watching the Democrats self destruct knows that this was on its way. This is just the blasting cap going off, the main explosion is going to happen in November, I'm afraid.

Let me add again: I hope I am wrong.

3. That is not what I get from making Phone Calls for Martha ...
two night this week. Dems are voting and coming home (very few - if any - said they were not voting for Martha). Tea-baggers are angry and not right in the head. Two nights on phone banks talking to Dems and not affiliated voters and NO ONE mentioned the health care bill as a reason Brown has close the gap. Not one.

27. I'm an independent, not a Democrat...
and you are right, it is negative. But it's based on what I've seen on the polls and on the race. Americans don't need this guy to win, it would be bad for America. But as I have been trying to say: it looks like the momentum is on his side. If she loses, we all lose. But the Democrats in Congress, especially in the Senate, have been setting up America for this since November of 2008.

19. What a mess

"Mass. GOP Senate candidate claims defamation"

Our party is right on all the big issues. Let's stick to that.

Let's run on our beliefs and when elected let's stick to them.

This race is starting to be a metaphor for the downside of letting cheap and easy expediency rule the day.

22. WTF is the point of these posts? Even if you really do...
"hope you're wrong" why bother to waste electrons on a foolish prognstication based on absolutely nothing but your fevered imagination?

Coakley will either win or lose and we won't know which until some time Tuesday night. I hope she wins, and that is all that should be said about it here unless there are some pertinent new factoids about the race.

(Or, we'll know in a few months after Brown gets tired of suing and recounting)

33. It's an opinion board.
Do you think I am to lock step with the "happy happy" crowd and make opinions based on a feel good glow? Not even here, with a board I mostly agree with, would I do this. And - get this - I would expect, ESPECIALLY here, to be able to make a concerned posting based on what I see happening in the polls without being called "hater" or a "waste of space" or other such representations.

Massachusetts has two days to turn this around. The Senate Democrats could have taken the November 2008 momentum and ride with it. Instead, they have exploited the bases expectations and this could be the beginning of a very long election night in November.

If I were a "hater" I would say "IS" instead of "COULD BE".

The health care debacle is now squarely on the Democrats shoulders. They have not moved near fast enough or decisively enough for the American people to believe they are the leaders that are going to turn this around. In turn, what can really be done to sell the Democratic "agenda" to the American people? In one year, with a majority in both the Senate and the House they have, once again, shown an unwillingness to act. A tough sale, to say the least.

23. If Brown wins everyone can call him Senator Centerfold

BOSTON The race for a Senate seat once held by John Quincy Adams, Daniel Webster, John F. Kennedy and "liberal lion" Edward M. Kennedy is shaping up as a battle of relative national unknowns, led by a state Democratic insider and a Republican lawmaker perhaps best known as a male centerfold and father of an "American Idol" contestant.

SNIP

The likely Republican nominee, state Sen. Scott Brown, is an attorney, lieutenant colonel in the Army National Guard and triathlete whose personal life has proved ripe for tabloid fodder.

Brown's wife is a Boston TV reporter who once appeared in a bikini in a music video. His elder daughter, Ayla, was a semifinalist in the 2006 "Idol" televised talent show. And Brown, 50, helped pay his law school bills by posing naked albeit with a strategically draped hand in the June 1982 edition of Cosmopolitan.

"As a result, health care "reform" will most likely fail"

whether the dems keep the senate or not, or whether the "healthcare" bill fails or not,

real healthcare reform under Obama is a failure up to this point.

36. Granted...
... with McCain health care reform would have not even made square one. However, if the health care bill totally fails because of this election, and after having all this time to be passed and signed, how are the Democrats any better? How are they going to sell themselves as the party that is concerned about health care?
