Georgia budget calls for hospital bed tax!
http://atlanta.bizjournals.com/atlanta/stories/2010/01/11/daily90.html?ed=2010-01-15&ana=e_du_pap

Under Gov. Sonny Perdue’s budget proposal, hospital providers would pay the giant share -- about $247.8 million -- via a “bed tax.”

Nursing home providers could end up paying $131.3 million in fees, while health insurers could have to shell out an additional $97 million.

The hospital bed tax would be levied via legislation, introduced and shelved last year, that calls for a 1.6 percent fee to be levied on hospitals’ adjusted gross patient revenue.

The Medicaid bed tax proposal would allow the state to draw more federal matching dollars, which could be funneled back to Georgia health-care providers.

People can't afford the nursing homes NOW! That's just great that Sonny wants to increase the cost!

1. How many more insurance claims will be denied because of this tax?

2. I sure am glad he isn't a Democrat anymore. What an idiot.
He should travel back to the 60's where he belongs.

4. I was not a BIG fan of Barnes but he's running again and I intend to
vote for him!

God forbid these current AH's vote in a new tax on unearned income...loke stock dividends and profits to accomplsh the same thing!

I admit I have a prehudiced attitude because I'm 66 yo and I may be looking for a nursing home in the forseeable future, but this insane no new taxes (of course that doesn't include taxes on wine, liquor, cigaretts, and all those SIN TAXES) crap has to stop! None of us want new taxes, but I don't think it's because we don't know what we want has to be paid for. We just need assurance that those taxes will actually go for the programs we really want! I live on SS and have a small 401K to pay for things like RE Taxes, insurance on the house & car, and emergencies. I don't owe any taxes now, but if I fell into a catagory where I had to pay some tax to improve life in the US, I'd be happy to do it!

What's wrong with the really wealthy who don't GAS about anyone but themselves????
