1. I'd wager it would have the same results. Tragically.

19. Two peas in the same pod - a waste of tax-payers money
DLC members would dominate any commission - the concept of an independent commission is an oxymoron; they are totally hired to manufacture the consent for policies the administration intends to pursue.

The objectivity of any such commission supported by the Democratic Party was lost when they took impeachment off the table, and when public interests in health care reform were ceded by this Administration in the interest of 'compromise' and 'negotiation' and behind closed doors.

2. The original was half Democrats
including at least one person who should have been testifying instead

Some people are having trouble coming to terms with the fact of the Democrat elite being no different in substance than the Republican elite.

14. Max Cleland was the only honest participant and they pushed him out pretty quickly.
No doubt the rest of the panel made his staying difficult.

Richard Ben-Veniste seemed like he was trying to do an honest job of it, as well...

21. he was STILL invested in protecting the Bush-Clinton-Bush decisions that saw BCCI matters deepsixed
Edited on Fri Jan-08-10 11:02 AM by blm
throughout the 90s and IranContra and BCCI figures go unpunished....see Jackson Stephens, Marc Rich, James Bath, Dubai and Saudi royals, AQ Khan, et al....

BCCI at its core was about the funding of global terror networks through illegal operations abetted by Poppy's imternational (and fascist) cronies.

13. the original were Clintonites invested in protecting Bush-Clinton-Bush decisions that included
Clinton's decision to coverup for Poppy Bush on all the outstanding matters concerning IranContra, Iraqgate and BCCI which (at its core) dealt with the funding of global terror networks by Poppy cronies in Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Pakistan.

6. After hearing Obama's Aghan Escalation Speech? No....
The Democratic establishment is just as invested in the Official 9/11 narrative as Bush/Cheney were.

Where the members are non-politicians. Ordinary citizens with full subpoena power.

11. There are 2 sides to every story and then there is the truth
even if we were able to select the most respectable names that would make the grade here at DU it would then just be another side of the 'truth'

23. My commnents have absolutely nothing to do with corruption
As I said - the Dem administration could pick members that meet the approval of every DUer here and it still doesn't mean that'st the truth. It just would give us another side to what might have happened on that day.

Our country is so fricking divided these days that there is no more room for bipartisanship or middle ground. Hell anytime a dem even attempts something that seems 'bipartisanship' they are yelled at as a 'sell-out' to the likes of websites like DU.

15. The Democrats simply follow the GOP lead on Foreign Policy
and war. Many Democrats signed on to the PNAC.

There were good Democrats on the first Commission.

The most important thing Democrats must do is convince
the American Public they are just as good as Republicans
on Foreign Policy.

17. Like the Kennedy conspiracy theories, conspiracies about 9/11 will always exist
But there is no evidence to support them. As shoddy as the first Commission was, the most important facts about the terrorist attacks were brought to light. It hurts the families of the victims to suggest conspiracy theories about how their loved ones died.

22. An independent commission would be needed, not partisan or bipartisan,
Attorney Vincent Bugliosi would have been ideal to head the commission, but by now most of the physical evidence has been removed, obliterated or hidden. Intel was/is so compromised that finding the real time-line, And I personally believe that so many of our politicians on both sides of the aisle both elected and those that were/are appointed would be implicated in committing high crimes or as accessories that all evidence and testimony would be totally tainted.

Bitter as the realization is, just as in the assassination of JFK, we will always have our valid doubts, but there is no possible way outside of creating time travel we will ever be able to find the truth about 911.
