Shame, Ladies

Shame, Ladies
by Abby Zimet

With the Senate still wrangling over their sell-out version of health "reform," Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maine is already proposing a whopping 23 percent rate increase - even as they await a judge's ruling on an earlier increase request, despite profits posted by their parent company of almost $3.4 billion. Meanwhile, between 2000 and 2007, Maine's premiums rose 90 percent, its wages rose less than 17 percent, and its senators Snowe and Collins enjoyed taxpayer-funded coverage - which didn't stop them from opposing the public option.

"The question is, do these people have any shame at all?" - Greg Howard of the advocacy group Maine Change That Works.

3. the only people these two represent are the *summer people*
You know, the wealthy assholes like Poppy Bush and the others who buy up choice land and then live in the houses half the year. These two women have NEVER represented the working folks of Maine. NEVER.
