Jay Leno is going back to his 11:30 PM time slot, and it's looking like Conan O'Brien is the odd man out ... sources tell TMZ.

We've learned Jay's 10:00 PM show will go on hiatus February 1. After the Olympics, Jay will take back his 11:30 PM time slot. What has not been decided -- whether Jay's show will be a half hour, followed by Conan, or whether Jay's show will be an hour and NBC says sayonara to Mr. O'Brien.

4. Conan's getting the "letterman" treatment.
and after he moved his family west too..

I don't watch Conan (never did), but it does not surprise me that leno doublecrossed him.. Leno & NBC did the same to Dave all those years back..

Conan needs to contact ABC.. their Nightline is only 30 minutes & is little more than "People Magazine-lite"..ABC could move him back to NYC and give him an hour at 11:30.. Nightline is a taped show anyway, so they could still show it later anyway..

13. I actually like him
He told some good Bush jokes:

“President Bush announced he plans to help out homeowners in this mortgage-lending crisis thing that’s going on. He said millions of people could lose their house, and you know, he knows what he’s talking about. Last November he lost a house and the Senate.”

“Bush is upset, very upset that the Iraqi parliament has failed any major legislation since taking office. I guess, of course, on the other hand, it made him feel right at home.”

The White House announced President Bush is on the last page of the Harry Potter book. So, apparently, he's reading it backwards.

President Bush welcomed the prime minster of India to the White House today. Bush said, "While you're here, can you look at my computer for a second?"

One of the big problems in Iraq right now is agreeing on a constitution. They should do what the Bush administration does: Have a constitution, but just don’t use it.

Happy Birthday to U.S. President Bush, he’s 59. If you haven’t gotten him a birthday gift yet, I know he’s still looking for an exit strategy for Iraq.

U.S. President Bush met with Palestinian president Abbas. There was one embarrassing moment when he said to Abbas, “I love your hit, Dancing Queen.”

President Bush said he was anxious to see the film though he was a little upset when he heard it was in Aramaic and Latin. Bush said "Why make a movie only Arabs and Latinos would understand?"

According to a new poll, if the election were held today both John Kerry and John Edwards would beat George Bush by double-digit margins. In fact, the White House is so worried they're thinking about moving the capture of Osama bin Laden up to next month.

President Bush is now focusing on jobs. I think the one job he's focusing most on ... his own.

Some sad news, President Bush's lap dog passed away. I didn't know Tony Blair was sick. I was shocked.

President Bush was on Meet The Press Sunday, a lot of his White House staffers thought it was a bad idea …"Hey…better than him going on Jeopardy"…Be honest…He didn't seem very well prepared…actually there was a reason he wasn't prepared, see Bush thought he was just gonna to meet the press, he didn't know there was gonna be questions….There was one kind of embarrassing moment where President Bush was asked if he was ever AWOL?" and he said "No no no I have Earthlink…we use Earthlink, can't get AOL"

The Bush administration says it will file a brief with the Supreme Court over the University of Michigan's affirmative action policy, saying it's wrong to determine acceptance based on race. Bush said acceptance should be based on fair things like what private school you went to, who's your dad, how much money you gave to the alumni fund."

"President Bush has declared Sunday to be National Sanctity of Human Life Day. He said we have to protect the weak, the imperfect and the unwanted. But first, we have to give tax cuts to the rich."

This Sunday, President Bush will be at the Daytona 500 for the start of NASCAR season. President Bush is a big fan of NASCAR. Bush says if it weren't for NASCAR, man never would have stepped foot on the moon. Finally, somebody said, "Uh, sir ... that's NASA."

A Newsweek poll said if the election were held today, John Kerry would beat Bush 49 percent to 46 percent. And today, President Bush called Newsweek magazine a threat to world peace." -

Today President Bush said he was "troubled" by gay people getting married in San Francisco. He said on important issues like this, the people should make the decision, not judges - unless of course we're choosing a president, then he prefers judges.

I was watching TV last night and I saw an interesting documentary on TV last night about the ninja - you know, the Japanese soldiers. According to the legend, the ninjas were warriors who could make themselves invisible whenever we fought in a war. You know, kinda like George Bush in the National Guard.

In his annual economic report to Congress President Bush said that the transfer of American jobs overseas is actually part of a positive transformation that will enrich the U.S. economy over time. So basically, losing your job to someone else can be a good thing - of course we'll see how he feels about that in November.

Happy President's Day everybody! Today of course is the day we honor our presidents. We honor Bill Clinton by having a mattress sale, and most people don't have to work today, we honor George Bush

Earlier today President Bush spent some time with National Guard troops in Louisiana. When Bush arrived, the commanding officer said, "You're a little late."

A retired Alabama National Guard commander says he remembers President Bush showing up there for duty back in the seventies. He says Bush used to come into his office and read. However, payment records released by the White House suggest that was not President Bush. Hey, the fact the guy was reading I think suggests it wasn't president Bush.

Yesterday President Bush stopped off at a bass pro fishing store to pick up a fishing reel, some line and some rubber worms. He's going to disappear and go fishing. So he must think he's back in the National Guard again.

Does this bother a lot of people? Who cares if Bush did his job in the National Guard 30 years ago - I'm more frightened about the job he's doing now.

Today in the L.A. Times, one critic wrote that the problem with John Kerry is "he looks like he thinks too much." Well, you won't hear anyone accusing President Bush of that.

I have lots of friends who I love and admire who think he's the funniest thing in the world, but something about him just bugs me. I don't like the way he drapes himself over his guests, but aside from that, I just don't think he's funny. I've watched him multiple times and I just don't get it!!!!

Of course the perfect solution would be to time travel back to the old days and have Steve Allen or someone doing it, with all the guests half in the bag and smoking cigarettes throughout the show. Maybe they ought to just re-run some of the old stuff. I'd watch that!

Conan and crew were actually FUNNY on Late Night. They get the tonight show and they have to water down their writing for the 1030 crowd. Whatever that is. And now they back freakin Jay Leno?

Isnt Leno tanking in the ratings right now? People are tired of Leno after all these years but NBC wants to push him down our throats? Way to stay 4th place NBC!

24. NBC: "No plans to pull ‘Jay Leno’ show"
from MSNBC:

NEW YORK - Despite rumors to the contrary, NBC has no plans to cancel the low-rated “The Jay Leno Show.”

“Jay Leno is one of the most compelling entertainers in the world today. As we have said all along, Jay’s show has performed exactly as we anticipated on the network,” an NBC rep said in a statement issued Thursday. “It has, however, presented some issues for our affiliates. Both Jay and the show are committed to working closely with them to find ways to improve the performance.”

FTVLive.com published a story early Thursday morning that suggested NBC would pull the plug on the show, potentially as soon as after the Winter Olympics, claiming that low ratings were to blame.

The pilot development season is targeted towards roll-outs primarily in September. While the webs are using this time to identify shows to hold in reserve for failures or mid-season replacements, finding quality content for the same time slot on five different nights is a major obstacle.

26. I Thought Conan's Move To California Would Get Him Great Guests On His Show.....
but if you watch - 4 out of 5 days he has D-List personalities that appear on the network. Either stars of failing shows, newspeople from NBC, CNBC, MSNBC or the current stars or rethreads from SNL.

I always check who will be appearing on Dave's show vs Conan and I go with Dave most of the time.

NBC even got better guests for Jay than Conan.

Also - Andy Richter is genuinely funny - but they relegated him to a sort of Ed McMahon role. They need to involve Andy more.

And as far as I'm concerned the funniest talk show host on the TV is Craig Ferguson. I love his interviews with his guests. I think the guests that appear on his show actually have fun and are disappointed when they're time is up.

Leno has got to go. He doesn't deserve to take back his slot. He failed at the earlier slot - it's over. Go polish your cars.

Jimmy Fallon is a complete waste of time.

Leno is a good company man, though. I'm sure the brass still doesn't "get" Conan, but maybe they will after they see the difference in ratings ($$). But I understand, they're paying Leno way too much to let him suck at 10:00 pm with no revenue coming in.

43. This doesn't surprise me. Conan's ratings have been pathetic.
He has routinely finished behind both Letterman and Nightline. Leno used to win that time slot.

"Nightline" just posted its best Q4 ratings in six years and topped NBC for the first time since 1993. The show averaged 4 million total viewers, placing just behind CBS' "Late Show" (4.22M) and ahead of NBC's "Tonight" show (2.55M). "Nightline" also averaged 1.58M in the 25-54 demo and 1.33M in the 18-49.

44. It was silly to have promised Conan that time slot in the first place
They wound up pushing Leno out of his time slot while he was still winning in the ratings, and with Conan in that spot The Tonight Show has lost about half its audience. They gave Leno the prime time slot to keep him from going to another network, but that experiment has clearly failed. And with Jimmy Fallon hosting Late Night, NBC has now slipped behind the Late Late Show as well. And moving Jay to prime time has irritated affiliates (who now have a bad lead-in for local newscasts) and cut them off from secondary markets that creative products benefit from (like DVD sales). They were worried about losing Conan O'Brien years ago, but everyone probably would have been better off if they'd just let him go ...

45. Conan O'Brien doesn't deserve this
I love him. I've been watching his show since he debuted in 1993.

If he walks away from NBC with $50 million in his pocket, I hope he decides to try something completely new: Comedy Central. I can't even imagine how great a Jon Stewart-Stephen Colbert-Conan O'Brien lineup would be, he could move back to New York, and he'd have NO problem getting guests in that venue, either.

C'mon, Conan. You know you want to. ;-)
