The price of hate: $2.4 million
That's how much Rick Warren's plea for money brought in.

He was hoping for $900,000.

Rick Warren's Saddleback Church: Spreading Hate Around the World.

Really, the IRS should take a better look at these "religious organizations" that are hard to tell from political parties.

8. Normally, I try not to hate.
It's not really a value.

MoveOn.org doesn't trot Jesus out front when they "beg" for donations.

his involvement with the Ugandan massacre of LGBT folks is quite enough to warrant an investigation into where his money comes from and goes.
In the meantime, as for the poseur above, I smell pizza for breakfast.

12. As much as I try to get things from context
I must have missed the start of the pizza thing.
I know it's got something to do with Freepers, other than that I'm clueless. ;)

3. Same script as Jerry Falwell used to use.
Unless they receive a certain sum by a certain date, the entire "church" will no longer exist. This is an extraordinary situation, and if you could only send $10, $20, they would SO appreciate it. Helping to do God's work, etc.

And you have people who wouldn't spend the $10-20 on charity, increase in taxes, etc. or worse, they can't afford the contribution but send it anyway. The latter really offends me.

9. Yep- works every time
and the ministers- if they can even call themselves that- laugh all the way to the bank.

An impressive scam, to be sure.

6. That's really depressing.
So much for his fading into obscurity with the rise of the Democratic party to power.

11. It seems as though the exact opposite has happened.
He's the new Falwell. That's the last thing we needed.

13. It looks that way
Hell we didn't want or need the old Falwell either.
If he's going to follow in Falwell's footsteps, I hope he at least does the entertaining stuff too.
You know, like launching attacks at the Teletubbies, Spongebob, and Captain Planet.

16. The very last thing we needed.
I got kind of nervous when Dobson folded his tent last year. At first I was happy, but then I could see that people like Pastor Rick are filling that niche with a "sanitized" shiny corporate kind of hate that deeply frightens me. People who get turned off by the fire & brimstone of the old crew probably get sucked in by the four color brochures and fake "charity" that Saddleback claims to perform. He probably has quite a few Democrats in his flock, sad to say.

People who thought this guy was going to be rendered powerless by the Inauguration were just blowing smoke rings to amuse themselves. It's a pretty story, but not at all fact-based or realistic.
