ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- The U.S. Attorney's office on Thursday announced a record seizure of methamphetamine bound for Alaska.

Approximately 23 pounds -- yes, pounds -- of Mexican meth were intercepted on its way to Anchorage.

Four people have been arrested: 51-year-old Ricky Reese of Wasilla, the intended recipient and owner of Shooter's Billiards; 29-year-old Jared Lisenby of Anchorage; 78-year-old Ronald Hall of California; and 54-year-old Debja Steilen of California.

I say "was" a mostly small town problem, don't know if it is still true. Now that ingredients are harder to get (in many (all?) states pseudoephedrine meds are behind the couter and you can get just limited amounts and have to show ID and it's tracked...) and now that it's easier to get via Mexico... and with how addictive it is, maybe it's bigger in cities now too.

What I don't get is...who the hell had the idea to ever mix these things to make something to get high
ephedrine , red phosphorous, hydrochloric acid, drain cleaner, battery acid, lye, lantern fuel, and antifreeze and so on. What a brain storm! Sounds insane.

Alaska shoots wolves from helicopters and airplanes. I guess I should say, the misguided among us shoot wolves from aircraft.

Advocates of predator control say it's more sporting when both the wolf and the hunter are moving.

Wasilla is the meth capital of Alaska. A town my Inuit wife calls, "full of pissed-off White people." Don't expect a Wasillan to slow down for you in parking lot.
