NEW YORK -- A suspicious white van parked in Times Square prompted the New York Police Department to partially evacuate high-rises and send out bomb squads.

The Nasdaq Stock Market's midtown Manhattan trading floor and offices were evacuated shortly after noon as a precaution, according to media reports.

The bomb squad is using a robot-based camera to approach the abandoned vehicle. Police said the area around 42nd Street between Seventh Avenue and Broadway has been blocked off as a precaution.
