5. What makes you suspicious?
Hi Xenotime - wondering why you're raising the issue - I think
it's a good question as I am suspicious of the whole incident.
I note that several key spying provisions of the Patriot Act
are due to expire on 12/31/09 and I suspect this Crotchbomber
incident was rigged by Our Elites to encourage the more mulish
members of the House to push this through after the 2 month
extension they've just given it, and to encourage the
"War on Terror" (patent pending) to spread further
in the ME into the oil rich land of Yemen. So what's your
thought here? Thanks for asking the question.

9. I'm just wondering why nobody is talking about him..
much less investigating him. We know more about the underwear on the plane than we do this guy. I feel like not everything is being told.

22. I agree completely
I understand that the flight was being filmed by someone on board with the attention on this passenger. The PantyBomber, I mean. I think the whole thing stinks. And I don't mean the panties...

23. Sad that we have to ask these questions but....
we just can't trust any aspect of this government, and the fascist corporate/media complex that runs its. I think much of what is served to the American public is an Orwellian fantasy, designed to manipulate us in so many different ways. After all, we have always been at war with Oceania....

Personally the more I hear about this PantyBomber situation, the more I think it's a stage and rigged event to get the Patriot Bill and maybe other things passed and expanded, to continue to terrorize the American public, and to expand our warfare into other oil producing countries. This seems pretty obvious to me - obvious to the extent that the Health Care bill seems almost like a red herring to me, as it seems pretty obvious to me that Obama and his underlings, like Rahm, could give two shits about real healthcare for Americans. While we sit here and debate about this healthcare nonsense - this massive gift to the insurance companies - they steal our liberties and the rest of the country away from us.

I hate to say it, but Obama is just the next link in the fascist chain. He's the face the elite picked to appeal to the upcoming demographic in this country. They can only continue to use the faces of old white men for so long with the country turning brown. They needed a "black" guy to put a good face on their fascism. That's what Obama is - Bush 3. Progressives have to be honest about this and stop wishing and hoping - this guy is no progressive. He has shown in the past year that he is not interested in pursuing real changes to health care, nor in reigning in the bankers (hello Glass Steagal anyone?), nor trust busting, nor gay rights, nor women's rights. He continues to expand war into other countries and gets a GODDAM Nobel PEACE PRIZE for it!!! He protects Bush and Cheney and John Yoo. He wants to continue with the destruction of liberty of the Patriot Act.

Wake up people. Obama is NOT a progressive. He's just more of the same we've been getting since the end of WW2.

Sorry for the rant, but I've been reading the DU posts for a long time and the PantyBomber finally got me to post. I just want people to wake up and realize that the cynics like George Carlin were and are right.

25. Here's what I think
This was a young stupid wannabe terraist who thought he could blow up a plane with loaded underwear. It's too stupid for him to have been coached to do this so I doubt al qaeda was involved.

I also believe that based on what I am hearing 24/7 on my teevee news that this 'bomb' wasn't going to blow up that airplane.

Now, if I'm wrong, correct me. But until I see even more juicy details I am :tinfoilhat:

Did he use excessive force? Did he injure anyone else in the process? Nobody is saying anything.

15. rofl excessive force, if the dude had dragged the bomber to the door and thrown him out in order to
stop the successful detonation that still would not be excessive force. I cant believe that you think there is such a thing when dealing with a suicide bomber...

16. The only thing odd to me was that he was clear across the plane
Edited on Tue Dec-29-09 12:02 PM by TornadoTN
I saw their seating arrangements on CNN yesterday and he was on the opposite side of the plane, across and slightly back about three rows from the terrorist.

How did the guy manage to make it from his seat, across the entire middle row of seats filled with people, across another aisle and into this guys face to subdue him? I mean it was a heroic act if it went down as described, but that's an awfully lot of space to cover packed with people in a panic. Hell, it's hard enough to navigate walking in a packed plane when everything's going smoothly.

27. You're right.
Nobody can be accused of doing anything good.

All people must be evil, conspirators, out to scam us. Well, except us.

Otherwise we may be forced to break out of our coccoon of cynicism and actually have to so that somebody did something admirable. And that would deny that we're no worst than the best, and arguably better than that. It means that our best possibly aren't as good as their best. And our worst are certainly worse than their best.

Can't have that.
