Do Republicans really think the current health system is fine?
Do you think they actually think health reform is a terrible idea and the current system is wonderful?

Or are they engaging in blind obstructionism knowing full well what they are doing will harm the future of the country?

2. Your question mark should have been placed after word 4.
And the answer is "no."

4. A woman whom I work with--she is the department secretary--
is a Republican. She is very sweet and has helped me more than I can list here. Her husband put a World Nut Daily sticker on their car--so, we're talking not just Republican, but uninformed far-right. She was visibly upset on the day of Obama's inauguration. I tried to calm her down and let her know that things would be all right.

That said, she is in a terrible situation when it comes to health insurance. Her husband is retired, they are raising a grandson, and she is paying over $500.00 a month for health insurance for all three of them via our employer. Her main nonpartisan concern is the economy and the injustices of health care costs.

She may wind up pleasantly surprised. ;-)

I don't know if you are referring to rank-and-file Republican citizens or elected officials, but I'm waiting to see what happens with my Republican friend.

5. Apparently Democrats do too
Since their vision of "reform" means mandating the purchase of insurance.

6. Health Reform is fine
This travesty of a bill that has passed the Senate is not.

Let me make this clear. Punish union workers and young voters (which is what this does) and watch as 2010 looks like a replay of 1994.

7. There are at least two but probably more kinds of republicans.
The first kind has wealth. Most domestic problems never cause them any trouble.

Then there is the second kind. The tea bagger or freeper kind. They are being used by the first kind to keep the first kind in wealth and power. (The town hall meetings are an example)

Both of them do not want to feel empathy for other people and suppress any feelings of empathy.

The first kind cares nothing about their lack of empathy. Empathy just gets in the way of their wealth building.

The second kind thinks that having empathy is a sign of weakness and a bad thing. They are told this by the first kind.

The second kind sees the first kind as a sort of authority and something to emulate because the first kind has wealth. They feel that if they do what they are told by the first kind they will some day be part of the first kind. (that's why they think that acting like John Galt will have an effect on the rest of us even though they have no wealth)

So when they are faced with the fact that there are people with no access to health care, the response is to deny any feelings of empathy and put the blame on the people without health care.

That way the first kind can continue to build wealth without thinking about the lack of health care others are facing and the second kind can feel that they are still strong and not weak and are on the path of potential wealth.

10. That sounds about right to me. The second kind don't think and do what helps the first.
