Food Fight!!!!!!!
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A fight between the U.S. Congress and President George W. Bush over the Iraq war is set to come to a head this week when Democrats are expected to send him $100 billion to pay for continuing combat while setting timetables for withdrawing troops.

Bush has promised to veto any bill setting dates for removing U.S. combat soldiers from the Iraq war, now in its fifth year.

But when a Democratic-controlled panel of Senate and House of Representatives members meets on Monday to iron out differences between their respective bills, the product is expected to contain 2008 withdrawal dates.

<snip>

"The longer we continue down the president's path, the further we will be from responsibly ending this war," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who on Thursday said the war in Iraq was "lost."

The Nevada Democrat, who called for a change of course in Iraq, made his remarks during a week in which he and Bush traded barbs and as violence and killings in Iraq again spiked.

1. Bush refuses to support the troops if he doesn't get his way
That's how that Democrats need to frame this, it needs to be put out there that Bush doesn't want to support the troops unless he can keep them at war as long as he wants.

2. If they make the dates non-binding, they've already capitulated
and Bush wins this round (again).

The media will set it up as a big battle, and when Bush signs the watered-down bill, he'll be touted as the big compromiser, the "adult" who was big enough to settle for less than he had originally wanted.

Just watch.

3. How much of the $124 BILLION will actually go to the troops???
Isn't most of it going to go to Halliburton, KBR, CACI, Blackwater, Titan, and the other 96 war profiteers?

4. Yes, 'advisory', non-binding timetables. So the dim one wins;
the troops, Iraqis, and constituents lose.

5. Bush is a piece of shit....
...and the War on Terror is a LIE.

The Dems support the Troops by wanting to get them the hell out of there so no one else has to die for nothing. Even Iraqi leaders want us out, ASAP! So, whats dumbass do? send in more.

They can give support for troops already there, but they should not allow for more funds for sending in more troops. Bush does not care, does not give a fuck about anything other then his corperate buddies.
