Right-wing blogger Owens wants Sen. Byrd to "do the right thing, and expire" before Senate health bill passes

December 21, 2009 2:02 pm ET by MMFA Staff

From Bob Owens' December 21 Confederate Yankee blog post, headlined "All I Want Is A Byrd Dropping For Christmas":

Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) has seen far better days, and is often little more than a warm body when he is helped into the Senate. Granted, lucidity and coherence is not a priority among Senate Democrats, but Byrd is an embarrassment even for a party that regular drafts the imaginary or dead to vote.

Robert Byrd has been around a very long time, and his many decades of service have made West Virginia a wonderful state in which to manufacture methamphetamine or frame the locals for murder. But it's time for Senator to do the right thing, and expire.

It isn't too much to ask for Byrd to step off for that great klavern in the sky before the Senate vote that may force this nation to accept government-rationed health care. Even a nice coma would do.

Without his frail, Gollum-like body being wheeled into the Senate's chambers to cast the deciding vote, the Senate cannot curse our children and grandchildren with crushing debt and rationed, substandard healthcare.

I suppose some will be shocked and appalled that I'd wish for the former kleagle to die on command. I'd remind them that the party wheeling in a near invalid to vote in favor of this unread monstrosity of a bill is the one that should feel shame.

11. The supreme irony would be if one of the Rethug
Senators choked over Xmas dinner.
Dems better watch those small aircraft over the holidays - stay away from them Dems.

4. New York Republicans made sure senile State Senator Knorr voted correctly.
And that was just in New York. I will say that the senator from Forest Hills was a much nicer human being once he had lost his marbles.

But Republicans really should check their closets before crying "Shocked!"

Edited on Mon Dec-21-09 05:10 PM by Bluerthanblue
pretty vile comments from our side of the 'world', but this is simply another sad statement about the way some humans think and (too often brag) about feeling. It doesn't shock or appall me, it just makes me very sad.

I pity mr. Owens, may he live a very very long and interesting life.

edited for spelling era ;)

6. Just who are these lunatics "praying" to? Whoever it is doesn't seem to be listening!
I do remember in August 2008 when Republicans had group prayer circles to intensely pray for rain to spoil Obama's acceptance speech in Denver. Making "entreaties to the Lord" with evil intent is just not a good idea. Sad.sad.sad.sick.people.

12. They just haven't figured out that there's nobody there to pray
to. You can pray until your tongue drops out. The effect will still be nil.

8. What a sad little world Bob Owens inhabits
I'm glad I need no more than this fleeting glimpse to see such a sad little man. He still mourns the day that Byrd left the KKK forever, deplores the Americans who have elected him to represent their interests, and has forgotten entirely the grotesque spectacle of the Senator from Tang, Strom Thurmond, "serving" in the Senate after his centenary. Byrd will have more on the ball two years after his death than Thurmond had during the entirety of his last term.

Too bad, so sad for you Mr. Owens. Another program enacted to serve the citizens of the nation. Woe is you, you pea-brain.

9. As many times as members of the republicans
has called for a prominent democrat to be killed or die what do you think would have happened if the position had been reversed during bush's reign. The republicans would have send the secret service, the National Guard and the whole darn military to arrest them.
