1. I don't know
But I think he would have fought the administration on several fronts in order to get a better Bill. And he might well have won.

3. Thanks for bringing that letter back up.
People forget just how good Teddy was at the art of compromise. That's how he got things done.

6. I have read that
I disagree with Mrs. Kennedy I don't think the mandate would have set well with Teddy he also was a champion of the poor.

10. You asked a question: I think Mrs. Kennedy answered it eloquently,
whether you agree or not with her.

Sen. Kennedy would have been fighting and would have continued to fight for a better bill, but I imagine he would have voted for it; as someone else mentioned, he was a pragmatist.

have voted for it. You say he wouldn't have. I think it's pretty clear who knew him better.

4. Am I nuts, or it is possible that all of these people are dumb enough to not

tweak this after the bill passes with reconciliation - I honestly can't picture that they wouldn't do it, simply by the fact that it would be suicide NOT to - but they can't ever say it or let on.

'am I nuts' is rhetorical, no need to confirm if I am - I know that already

5. I think he probably would have, if this was all that could get
passed. Ted Kennedy was an idealist in principle, but a pragmatist when it came down to it. He would not have voted no on a bill that included some aspects of what he wanted, but did not include some others. If the compromise was the only thing that could pass, he'd vote for it, then continue to work for something closer to his idea.

He did this many times. It is one of the reasons he was such a great Senator. He did many things to cause change. Incremental change, at times, but change.

So, yes, I think he would be voting Yes today.

12. I think he would vote for it, just to open the door to reform.
And the second it passed, he'd begin working to make it better. He would remove things that weren't good, and replace them with better things.

He would be looking at the big picture down the road.

It's just that now he's gone, who can we depend on to do this in his place?

But those of us who are married a long time know our spouses still surprise us every day.

IMHO there's no way for anyone to know what Ted Kennedy would have done.

23. What Vickie Kennedy said
"The bill before the Senate, while imperfect, would achieve many of the goals Ted fought for during the 40 years he championed access to quality, affordable health care for all Americans. If this bill passes:

-- Insurance protections like the ones Ted fought for his entire life would become law."

33. Hmm... an imperfect framework that allows things to be improved over time...
...vs. abject failure and continuing to do what we've been doing.

I'm going to go out on a really, really long limb here and say, "Of course he would have fucking voted for it. Are you fucking insane?"

35. At the moment, it appears that every Democrat in the US Senate is going to vote for it.
That includes Bernie Sanders, Russ Feingold, Sherrod Brown, and everyone else.

So, yes, I think it is fair to conclude that Ted Kennedy would vote for the bill.

Of course Teddy would have. Bobby might not, but Ted Kennedy would go along with the pragmatic majority. He was inside the beltway, which is not always a bad thing. Today it is, but it's not always.
