Hugo Chavez: If the climate was a big capitalist bank, you would have already saved it

"Why haven't we bombed Bolivia and Venezuela yet? oh, i get it, we need to wear them down with some 'soft power' first... "The third component of climate debt is the paying of reparations, reparations for damages that have been created by the irrationally industrialized countries. For humanity together, it’s shameful that the Western countries have only offered $10 billion for climate change. I was looking at some figures. The United States—how much does the United States spend to export terrorism to Afghanistan, to export terrorism to Iraq, and to export military bases to South America? They don’t only spend millions, but billions and trillions. "

4. Chavez is a clown...
Increasingly unpopular throughout most of Central and South America, where his interference in other countries politics is frowned on as much as it is when the US bullies other nations and sticks its nose in their business.

Railing about evils of capitalism at the Global Warming conference simply makes a mockery of the entire event. That gets played all over the news and adds to conspiracies and fears that average Americans and Western populations have that the effort to combat AGW is really just about one world government, reparations, socialism, etc.

Chavez probably did more damage to the chances of getting any kind of worthwhile deal than any single other person or leader in attendance.

It is interesting that Chavez prescribes Socialism as the solution to fix the environmental crisis. Wonder if anyone bothered to look a the immense damage socialism caused the environment behind the Iron Curtain. The horror show the environment suffered in those workers paradises should not give anyone confidence that command and control, marxists wonderlands could do a thing to fix the environment.

It is really quite sad that this buffoon has so many cheerleaders here.

5. Oh Bull.
Chavez is one of the few with the balls to say it like it is, no matter how much you dislike him. There was never any chance for a worthwhile agreement, what he said is what billions around the world know and feel. I consider myself a citizen of the WORLD, with a responsibility to stop this madness. It doesn't take a lot of research to know how many people are and will continue to be killed and forced off their land as water levels rise, droughts, famines and temperatures increase, all felt first and most drastically in the worlds poorest nations. If we, the largest emitters don't ACT and continue to indifferently rape and use up our resources like they're some magic, perpetual gift .... we will be responsible for killing many more millions. Harper was invisible .... our Big Oil puppet. I wish he'd given one tenth the speech Chavez had. Instead of using our oil responsibly and putting Canadians and the values for which we've always fought for, first, Harper cheerfully exploits the oilsands while at the same time trying to glut every social program we have. It's no wonder he doesn't give two *'ts about the rest of the world.

I think Chavez does have a big mouth, but demonizing him on this is a no-win. Sorry.
