Late term abortion
Last night I searched the archives and found these two heart wrenching posts. For anyone wondering about the "barbaric" procedure: evolution created humans with large brain which required dilation before normal delivery. If the fetus is dead or severely deformed, the brain has to be drained in order to pull the fetus out.

1. So do you have
a problem with this? If so, you should also check out the procedure for a complete autopsy ...

2. No I don't
this is why I tried to explain why this procedure is necessary, even if some consider it "barbaric" and the freepers have taken special pleasure in describing this in detail.

4. It ain't less "barbaric" than dismemberment - - which is still
an option.

Unless people have KNOWN someone in those predicaments or READ something describing how heartbreaking this is, people tend to default to the "aborted heathy baby because she wanted to fit into a Prom Dress" mentality. Makes me sick :(

3. The 2 instances I know of gals who had PBA's
One was a gal who learned late that the baby had only one heart chamber and could not survive the birthing process.

The other was a gal who learned her baby had extreme bina spifida, and if the baby survived birth, would die shortly afterwards in pain.

The right wing has done nothing but take steps to demean and criminalize women. They are a rabid emotional attack team with no sense of reality. The uber now laughable conservative U.S.S.C. has joined the rabid attacks against women.

8. Erika, please watch the terms you use
language does a lot to shape the soul of a country. The term partial birth abortion has been designed to horrify people, and to spread anti right-to-choose propaganda.
The term, as QE has it in the thread title is "Late term abortion".

It is important that we don't use their language. For example, never use the words "War on Terror". Just to use these words is to somewhere in the dark recesses of your brain, admit that there is something OK about the Bushies...:)

10. Thank you, Judy.
Similarly, I never use the term "pro-life." It implies that they are pro life while we are pro death. (Never mind that these so-called "pro-life" are too happy to execute criminals).

We need to at least call them "anti-choice" and as has been suggested else where, we need to move away from the word "choice" that can come from consumerism, while their "life" is so visceral. We need to talk about dignity and privacy.

I call them anti-women.

7. Too bad the men are so hateful to women
No, the 8 men on the now laughable USSC have little to identify with women.

9. I think this isn't supported by the evidence.
My understanding is that, in general, women on average favour more legal restrictions on abortion than men do.

That strongly suggests to me that the fact that men do not have to worry about getting pregnant is not a significant factor in the opposition to abortion being legal of those who oppose it.
