McCain/Palin presidency with GOP control...
We would be debating war with Iran right now, not healthcare.

I see far too many people quick to jump on ANY sign of division in the Democratic party and ANY perceived weakness of President Obama. Take for what you will...but too many people in this country want Obama to fail.

I reserve judgment until after a few years pass...all I know is we ARE headed in the right direction...

I wish it would be faster but we still have TOO MANY REPUBLICANS in washington.

1. Believe it our not, it wouldn't be worse for us. The ruling elites make ALL the calls until/unless.
the people rise-up and say, "NO MORE!"

5. You really us DUers would "rise up" like the Teabaggers have?
I'd like to think so, but I have my doubts. I'm not sure where and how the teabaggers got motivated as early as march. I was barely done celebrating the inauguration by then.

Hell we haven't been on the streets supporting HCR anywhere near as much as they have been opposing it.

9. May I respectfully suggest that we quit interacting with each other....

in terms of seeing things as "threats." We're having discussions.

And my post about right-wingers potentially going the way of Uganda in terms of making being gay punishable by death is not far-fetched, IMHO.

That IS a way that the average American's life could become worse.

4. I imagine this frequently as these discussions rage on....

It's how I keep my perspective -- though it doesn't take away the will to fight to make things BETTER and have a more compassion, people-centered (rather than corporate-centered) country.

I specifically imagine the right-wing religious fundamentalists having more control than they do already, which is exactly what would happen if any of the name-recognition Republicans get into office, and how they'd probably make being gay punishable by death, as they are doing in Uganda.

That puts things into perspective very quickly for me.

15. Stupid analogy.
You eat one or the other whether you like it or not, and don't cry when you get your ass pummeled for serving everyone else the lump of shit.

16. If Idi Amin and Satan are running, should I vote for Palin?
No more. NO. We are not heading in the right direction. We are continuing Bush's policies. We are using a mercenary army to blow civilians into chunks in Afghanistan. We are still in Iraq (and--make no mistake) we'll be there for the duration. We ain't building a 80 football-field long embassy-palace in Iraq for nothing.

Obama's war policy is not substantially different than McCain. It just isn't. It's got different rhetoric supporting it, but it's the same imperialist expansion.

17. I have wanted Obama to succeed on nearly everything he has attempted.
On this "health insurance reform" bill he is pushing now, however, I admit that I want him to fail.

It's worse than doing nothing.
