I watched a Nature show the other night about dogs
How they evolved and how quickly. It was absolutely fascinating and the new theory is dogs evolved from wolves in a single human lifetime. This theory is based upon research from Russia on the fox. They witnessed evolution within a ten year span in the fox and submitted the exact thing happened with dogs. It was all based upon the fright and flight syndrome. Those less likely to fear man would breed among themselves and within only a couple of decades an entirely new animal came to pass. I highly recommend this show to anyone interested.

2. I believe it. Only the wolf and dog are still the same species, Canis lupus.
So I would call the process a strong selection and narrowing of the wolf gene pool, rather than evolution of an entirely new animal. Still, it's interesting.

6. As long as they can interbreed they are still the same species.
Dingos also belong to this species.

12. The entire point was it was not intentional breeding.
It occurred entirely without interference by mankind, but completely because of mankind and man's garbage.
