1. Oh, he is, if not more. I wonder if he knows that the House bill kills
SCHIP. I'm not going to tell him. I worry about his blood pressure.

5. Yes, I agree and Ed Schultz is going to have an absolute coronary about it
if he doesn't lower his rage a notch. He's really up in arms about it.

3. knr. This Congress is by far one of the most dysfunctional I've seen in all
my years of paying attention!

The suffering of Americans continues unabated. Most in Congress have been bought off and act now only for the interests of corporations.

Some of the foresighted have felt despair and disappointment as Congress and the Presidential Administration do the corporations' bidding. We are going to have to be the change we want to see.

7. Okay, if I get laid off and can't get private health insurance because I'm diabetic ...
I'll be thanking Kucinich, Hartmann and Dean for that.

This isn't the fault of Obama or Reid or anyone else except the despicable Lieberman. Why punish people who WILL get some good out of this bill? Like Tom Harken said, it's a good foundation to build on, and if it goes away, there won't be an appetite to start over again for a good long time.

I say take half a loaf this year, and expand, expand, expand.

Or .... get cloture vote and pass bill as is. Then come back and put in Medicare expansion and public option under reconciliation. As I understand it, only government funded programs such as Medicare and public option are applicable to reconciliation. There could be no insurance reform without going through the current 60-vote process. So maybe a 1-2 surprise?

11. Why would you care if you can get it if you can't pay for it?
I'm sure you'll love being forced to pay for shitty useless underinsurance that doesn't cover anything instead of paying for your insulin.

The bill isn't bread--it's decomposing garbage. If you want to expand Medicare and Medicaid, you don't need any new legislation at all--just modify existing legislation.
