but the Bushies have done a "Lock Down" on the destruction?

Blue Angels jet crashes at air show; one dead

A jet flying in formation with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels precision flying team crashed in an "enormous fireball" Saturday during an air show in South Carolina, authorities said. The Beaufort County coroner's office told CNN there is one fatality. The victim was not identified. Witness Gerald Popp said, "I saw him go down lower than the trees, and next I saw a big black, cloud of smoke."

1. The lockdown is on the base. What have "Bushies" to do with this?

There's more to the story at the above link. First news of an accident is always incomplete.

2. So far, all they showed was the parts of the jet that fell in a Trailer Park
And looking at Google Maps I don't see anything expensive looking in that direction, but I can't find the name of the crossroad they said.

It was Shanklin Rd and something. Anyone know?

4. NO, but the OP asked if it fell on Expensive houses, these would not be them...
...at least so far. These "manufactured homes" are all CNN has shown so far.

I don't live in a trailer, but I definitely do live in an old "starter home," not on or even near a golf course.

6. "Trailer" not trailor. And no, many of us old farts still refer to them as that.
Even me, who recently moved out of my trailer, have to be reminded to call it a Mobile Home when I sell it.

Is there word on the homes that got destroyed?

10. There is nothing "mobile" about this type of home.
These are not Travel Trailers or Winnebagos, these were Single and Double wides that they showed.

Once this type of "mobile home" is place on a site, they are very rarely moved.

You can try to put lipstick on this pig, but they are still trailers, or "Manufactured Housing" as they are called in my old home town of Elkhart, Indiana where, at least when I lived there, more of them were made than anywhere else in the U.S.

11. My grandma, 84, moved into her "Mobile Home, in 1969. It was a
Mobile home then, and it's a mobile home now.

I'm a real estate appraiser. They are "mobile" not because they "move", but because they have axles and can be moved. :hi:

13. Any house "can" be moved, When I lived in Vincennes, IN, they moved an old...
...two story Victorian to near the Vincennes University Campus to become the new Sigma Phi Epsilon House.

So has her's ever been moved? I'll guess no.

Most are sold on site or just razed and replaced when they get that old.

14. Yes it has..because it's on axles and can be moved.
That is why it is call mobile. It was just moved 5 months ago when she sold it. Axles=the designation.

15. "Mobile Home" is the politcally correct term for those who need to be pc.
I, however, live in a trailer which is in a trailer park and is just 2 miles from the airport where the Blue Angels are scheduled to appear next month.

mobile home, because it is on axles. There is no designation for trailer. I have no need to be "pc" in my work, only correct and thorough, or I lose my license. There was also no need for pcedness in 1969, when my grandparents bought their mobile home.

18. Anyhow, I live in a trailer which is in a trailer park. That is what I call it
as well as the others who also live here. Doll it up however you like--mobile home, manufactured housing, I live in a trailer. However, I am an environmental services manager, which used to be called a janitor. Actually, I still call it a janitor.

22. Good for you. I'm not dolling anything. I'm doing my job.
Okay? Your house is not a trailer, for this is no such designation on the form for trailer. And that goes far back before the need for "pc" behavior.

21. I pay taxes the same as a house because I had the tongue and axels removed
and a block foundation put around mine.... but otherwise, you are correct about the designation. Maybe this is just something from my state, but I don't know..

23. Do you still have a tag license and title? Here in MI they are still
mobile homes and can't be compared with stick built even if the axles are removed. There are different statutes for different states.

I once had a house that was built around a mobile, and was unable to count the sq. ft. of the mobile in the report for the stick built. Funny, eh?

24. We don't have tags and/or window stickers here in Tenn
They had them in Ga when I lived there though. You had to renew them every year. It was the same way in Fla when I lived there. I've lived mostly in mobile homes for the last 20+ years.

19. Thank You. All of my friends who have them here in the Atlanta Metro call them Trailers also.
I can't remember the last time I heard anyone refer to them as a "Mobile Home" around here.

And the Blue Angels usually have a show in early May at the base about 5 miles from my house too. It sounds far, but they still do their High-G turns right over my house. Oh well, I guess I just hope for the best this year too. :pals:

12. Here, maybe this will help. Tell me if you can see the blue line and marker...
Edited on Sat Apr-21-07 07:15 PM by Up2Late
...that I saved to Google Maps at this link:

<http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Pine+Grove+Road,+Beaufort,+S.+Carolina&layer=&sll=32.459606,-80.752409&sspn=0.01166,0.017231&num=10>

Here's the CNN report I'm going by: <http://edition.cnn.com/2007/US/04/21/blueangels.crash/>

The guy they interviewed said the parts of the jet he photographed were on Shanklin Road, starting about a mile from the base.

So, can you see the Blue marker and Blue line? Seriously, I want to know if this Google Maps feature worked.

Edit: Sorry, try this link, the other didn't work: <http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?f=q&q=Pine+Grove+Road,+Beaufort,+S.+Carolina&layer=&num=10&ie=UTF8&hl=en&z=15&ll=32.459226,-80.752687&spn=0.023863,0.040169&t=h&om=1&msid=113079982360069943979.00000112167c0b23f4b57&msa=0>

16. As someone who lives an hour away from Beaufort
This is why I am not a fan of air shows and other dangerous displays that are put on at our expense. I live near the end of the runway of Hunter Army Airfield and I see military take off and land all day long as training for war, and I think that "playing" is unnecessary and improper. Why dont they take the money from the Blue Angels and other such grand "penis wavings" and put it towards giving our troops armor and clean drinking water.
