What Happened to the Threat to Repeal the Anti-Trust Exemption for Health Insurance Companies?
If the health care bill fails and we don't get a satisfactory public option, let's repeal the anti-trust exemption in the Insurance Industry.

The Conservative Democrats and Republicans want "competition"? Well, let's give it to them.

10. No one in the Senate could get through the proposal without doing a spit take
So they had to drop it. It's important not to laugh when you propose something that would hurt your bosses that you have no intention of following through with. Otherwise it loses its only intended benefit.

11. What would be the point
So we remove anti-trust exemptions. That would assume we have any anti-trust laws left. Its not like Obama or his justice department seem to be aware of them. Bush was at least enough aware of them to ignore them. Obama, instead, simply calls them "too big to fail."

I really we wish we still had some anti-trust laws. Then the justice department could use them to break up microsoft and GM and AIG and....

But, no. We're screwed.

13. The overwhelmed Democrats caved.
You know, too much Republican influence.

McConnell and Lieberman said they would not speak to them ever again if they did that.

14. That was one of the "concessions" to win over Nelson.
Even though he won't vote for the final bill because of abortion anyway :eyes:
