How politically crazy is Facebook?
I was just told someone complained that I had been "abusive" on Facebook when I tried to log on today and couldn't log on. I was asked what I thought was the reason and I said that I don't know, which I don't.

I HAVE posted political posts about the Stupak amendment but nothing was abusive about it. It was pure opinion. I am a grandmother of 4 kids, 3 of whom are female and I am strongly prochoice. Why should that matter so much?

Has anyone else faced being banned from Facebook for their political opinions? I think this is scary...

15. Wasn't banned. I think I was just "stopped at the border" for an ID check.
I'm still trying to get back on...I may do it...it might be a glitch.

If not, I'm not stressed. Facebook is a very, very small part of my life...

16. I got on just now. I don't know what went wrong...just a glitch somehow...
but it was a strange reply, using the word "abuse." That struck me as weird...if it is a glitch, why don't they just say "we have encountered a problem. Please try again."?

Oh, well...it seems to be OK now!

5. Wow! How did they do that?
I cannot find a way to contact the site administrators anywhere on FaceBook. Must be an inside job! lol

Choose your friends wisely on Facebook.

8. While I fail to understand it,
Facebook is very conservative, something which has dismayed me. Remember a couple of months ago, someone had put up a poll on whether Obama should be assassinated, so you are facing a young, highly immature membership.

Where did you post the information? If you posted it to your own Wall, then you know that it is likely someone you have "friended" who was opposed to your stance and made a big deal of it. If you posted it to a group or fan page, you might have pissed off someone more easily.

If you were banned after what might be a single incident, I propose you appeal. There must be someone in the correct state of mind who can reinstate you.

I would also suggest avoiding posting strong (liberal) comments--I worked for a company once that had very conservative Xtian employees--for about a year and a half I had to hold my tongue about my atheist beliefs because I would have lasted far less time if I did so.

I know it sucks--before I found a few Yahoo groups and eventually DU, it was very difficult to find sites with like-minded members.

9. I post political rants, links, and pictures on FB nearly every day, have my Wall open for all to see
and never had any trouble with someone's complaints.

You should check into it more; it may be an FB glitch, or a personal problem someone has with you. But definitely complain if you're not allowed back on without a specific explanation.

10. It's getting nuttier out there.
I saw a poll asking whether or not atheists should be considered citizens.

12. It's as nutty as your friends are.
If you have nutty friends, you run the risk of politically nutty things happening.

14. Not yet, but I'll keep trying.
I even posted the story about Health Ins. companies paying facebook game players in virtual money to post against the HCR. No one's offered me anything yet. Must not play the right games I guess.
