I hate people's actions. I fear and/or disagree with their belief systems. I abhor their intolerance, their racism. I feel angry when someone makes no attempt to understand or sympathize. I feel sad for those who don't understand the concept of compassion.

But, I don't hate Republicans who are anti-choice or Wall Street bigwigs who get huge bonuses. I don't hate anyone, or at least that's my goal and that's what I teach my children.

I feel weighed down by the "I hate" messages on DU. Hate only hurts you, not the hated.

Someone once told me that when you hate someone you're giving them free rent in your mind. I keep that with me.

When fear is within a person, then hatred exists. A supply of love is needed for that person and people in the situation and culture. Love and spiritual life feed us to be more present.
