3. Naw. They were looking for publicity and got it. They're
money hounds and with all the cable shows they got everything they wanted.

4. I'm not the only one that thought so, I guess.
I thought the message was not only what you say, but was a message to the looney right that WANT to get him. An extremely frightening message.

6. Screw up. And not nearly as important as people seem to think.
The Secret Service made a mistake. That just proves they are human. Had this couple been really dangerous, the Secret Service probably would not have allowed them to go in.

Obama probably gets along very well with the Secret Service. Rather than a warning, this may have been an attempt to get a rise out of Obama and separate him from the Secret Service. If that is true, it won't work. That's my opinion. I remember seeing a video of Obama speaking to his staff nearing the end of his campaign. He is a really cool boss. I'm sure he treats the Secret Service with the same respect that he treats his staff. They probably really like him and would never purposely allow anyone to get near him who should not get near him.

The couple that got in are experts at that sort of thing.

7. just a pathetic , desperate-to-fit-in woman & her compliant husband
It's ironic too, that with all the hub-bub now going on, ALL the skeletons in the Salahi family have tumbled out..

Now the people she tried SO hard to blend in with, to impress, know that she's a lying, fake..

Reminds me of the penchant for designer bags..the only people who believe it's real are the ones they would NEVER want to be friends with.. the people who can afford the real thing, know it's fake, and are laughing at them

8. Why would "they" want to "get to" a man who openly supports "them"?
Edited on Sat Dec-05-09 02:57 AM by Marr
Obama is several paces to the right of Richard Nixon, you know. This seems to me like a rather desperate attempt to maintain a happy illusion.

How sad, how very sad that the sitting Democratic President is so far to the right. Democrats who have real Democratic values like Kucinich are mocked and ridiculed by the corporate media and then people like "liberal" blogger Markos from DailyKos (he blogs like 3 posts a month now?)

Republicans are bad. Conservative Democrats are worse. The Republicans make no place for liberals yet the Democratic party is dominated by conservatives. We may have two party rule but we have effective one ideology rule, that of corporatism. Naked no holds barred corporatism of the Republicans and Compassionate corporatism of the contemporary post-Carter DLC "New" Democrat-ic Party.

Rahm Emmanuel, the real president of the united states, is also the current reigning Grand Dragon of American Corporatism.

13. Alternative answer. Shock and Awe
Edited on Sat Dec-05-09 05:11 AM by PHIMG
Assassinating a popular "left wing" president is a great way to "Shock and Awe" a population into submission, it has become a covert tactic of statecraft.

11. Remember Ross Perot talking about Papa Bush sending people to disrupt his daughter's wedding?
He sounded like a raving loony--but if it actually happened, it would have served two purposes: as a warning shot and to trick him into looking like a raving loony.

Oddly, the loony thing also happened after Dan Rather locked horns with Papa Bush with his whole weird, ''What's the frequency, Kenneth?'' incident.

14. The Salahis have a history of inserting themselves in D.C. high society
Edited on Sat Dec-05-09 05:55 AM by blogslut
That's why they got busted by the writers that broke the story - Amy Argetsinger and Roxanne Roberts. The two reporters recognized them and wondered how the heck the interlopers got through security.

Way back in the day, I worked at this very fancy nightclub: Ridiculous cover charge, lines around the block, an army of door sentries. Nevertheless this guy showed up, on the arm of one of the managers. She introduced him as Nathaniel Crosby - son of Bing. Upon meeting him I realized that he looked nothing like the kid I remembered from the orange juice commercials, but I held my tongue. Maybe I was wrong. Everyone else was positive it was him. He spent a good month pulling off his scam. Free drinks, food and access to all the rich-kid cocaine he could shove up his nose. Eventually he was found out and dissappeared from the scene. I felt bad for not speaking up sooner but not nearly as bad as the rubes he suckered.

The Salahis remind me of thet guy. Grifters and poseurs, taking their act as far as they can before they get caught.
