Do any members of your family "smoke"?
I mean smoke pot of course. To my knowledge none of my immediate family smoke. I know my parents tried it a few ties decades ago but it wasn't their thing really. However my family is not at all conservative on these issue as so long as I am careful about such things they don't have any hard and fast rules when it comes to me experimenting. I have taken over the counter prescriptions recreationally in the past and drank way too much alcohol (I have since stopped drinking as I was doing that for the wrong reasons). These were done for self medication for bad depression and anxiety that I have experienced all my life (I am also on SSRIs for that). However I have yet to try pot (though probably will soon). To my surprise the other day I was offered some by my cousin when I went over to her place for dinner with her and her boyfriend. One of the reasons it surprised me was because she and her family are usually quite politically right leaning. In hind sight given her personality though it's not at all surprising that they smoke but it never occurred to me that they did. Makes me wonder who else in my family does. Next time I'm over at her place I might take her up on the offer (so long as I'm in a comfortable mood).

Oh and the legality issue is much less of a concern for me here as I live in Vancouver Canada. Technically still illegal here but in name only.

1. Not wise
for any American to admit to such on a public forum.

It's a police state over here, they aren't even pretending otherwise anymore.

6. I say something similar to that when I am out driving
on deserted streets and don't come to a full and complete stop (when clearly no one else is coming) or speed up a little. What I tend to say, though, is "Come and get me, assholes." :P

5. Well I certainly don't mean to incriminate anyone. And this is not a call out thread but...
there are plenty of people out there who talk about it on the net all the time from the US. I also know that there are more than a few pot friendly cities in the US, though obviously not to the level that Vancouver is.

2. I don't think any member of my family hasn't smoked.
And that includes my semi-recently passed Iranian grandmother.

I'm... confused about the point of the OP. Is it just a call out to see if people actually obey the drug laws in this country? Or to see if conservatives do? Because I was sleeping with a Rush Limbaugh listening, illegal .38 snub nose carrying, preacher's daughter from Oklahoma for a time... and she was a big fan of smoking crystal meth and cocaine. Weed?... pshah...

Smoking weed is like drinking beer. It barely counts as degenerate, as far as I'm concerned...

4. No no, not meant to call anyone out! I was just curious....
how many people had family members of smoked pot. Most people are introduced by friends or by going to parties but I know there are a significant number of families out there that are open to pot use and think little of it. But I also know the stereotype of the ultraconservative "Reefer Madness" parents who freak out at the thought of their children trying it still rings true in many families as well. I just was curious what the breakdown was like.

7. I'm thinking it's time for my medical mj permit.
I have several health issues which have me in near constant pain from my shoulders to my legs right now. While it's not as bad as it was a few months ago, it's taking forever to subside completely and in fact I may need to have surgery to correct frozen shoulder. Going out of my limited range of motion with either arm is enough to make me want to pass out.

While I still had my bullshit private insurance through UnitedSickcare, I was maintaining prescriptions for both oxycodone pills and fentanyl patches, and needed both of those medications just to function. Now I'm without either one, and again it's not as bad as it used to be but I don't have much of a life right now either and I often sleep horribly due to pain.

Nevada has decent medical marijuana laws now, and just about anyone who can show evidence of chronic pain can get their ID card for about $200 from a doctor who will accept cash. I don't believe in smoking anything, but I know that it's possible both to buy herb in forms to be used in food or vaporizers, and it's also legal to grow up to 7 plants for personal use. I doubt I'd need more than a couple, and I'm not about to start running amok of the law, but then again I'm really not going to subject myself to the neurosis and horrible constipation brought on by narcotics. Never again!

As a kid I was programmed to think that all drugs are bad, and having a mother who was an alcoholic seriously reinforced that. I now know that marijuana never should have been lumped in with these other addictive and behavior-altering drugs, including the so-called legal ones.

10. You must be rather young.
I've smoked pot for over 42 years. I love it. I will always love it.

My first toke was one of the best things that ever happened in my life, and I will be forever grateful that I took it.

14. To a 60 year old like me? Yeah, you're young.
Smoke some damn pot. If you don't like it, then don't do it again. It's not as if you'll suffer permanent damage. Hell, even my own parents tried pot in the 70s -- we kids never hid that we were doing it from them and they wanted to see what it was about.

Had to stop to find a job, your personal life matters so much to employers here. Fucking sucks. If I can come to work on time and perform any job without problem and work my ass off who cares if i get high after work and on the weekends instead of shit faced?

23. Well of course when I'm drunk I dont think about things I just want to PARTY!!! and have sex.
Whats more American than that. But when I get high I think about things in different more in depth ways and gain better understanding of the world, which is the opposite of what they want. We must stay drunk and dumb not high and smart. I wish I lived in Canada.
