The longer this continues, the more hated the US becomes. Afghanistan was always where the battle should have been fought, but as you noted, we are too late. This cannot be "won" militarily. Diplomatic and political solutions should be sought.

5. You know what would make me feel safer? (if I was even worried about it at all)

Take the total number of US border miles (19,973 according to Wiki), and divide it by the total number of troops we have in the Middle East. How far apart would they be standing to guard this country? If I was afraid at all; this would make a lot more sense to me.

People who like to talk about how this war is making it safer for their children make no sense to me.

Oil and money...that's the bottom line; always has been, always will be when it comes to the ME.

big businesses in the US. The warmongers at the pentagon dream up expensive complicated weapons that have no chance of ever working, and the contractors pretend for many years that they can make them a reality. Then, when they admit they can't, and the spigot is finally turned off, they simply go on to something else. We have very little to show for the billions wasted and these frauds continually get away with it. It's a giant scam.
