The President is too smart by half. He thought by keeping the Bush Generals and Secretary of Defense in charge of military affairs, he could deflect political blame for the disasters he inherited in Iraq and Afghanistan. How could the Repubs criticize him if the Repubs were calling the shots?? Make no mistake, it is these folks that are making this decision for the President. He could do something different but he would pay a huge political price.

The same goes for the economic policies and the bank bailouts. Bernanke, Geithner, and Summers were the cause of the problem and the President seemed to think they were the ideal people to fix it. Since they knew more about it than anyone else. It seems we are stuck with a continuation of the Chimp's policies and decision making?

1. Again. Obama already promised this. AND NO....the troops moved earlier
were left over request he filled during the BushCo term....

Obama is fulfilling a campaign promise here. So y'all can't blame this on Gates, Petraeus, and McChrystal.

Obama is the PotUS. HE calls the shots. IF he didn't want the troops they wouldn't be fucking going. Give Obama some credit here. Don't praise him for the good and say he had noting to do with the bad. He is the PotUS he calls the shots.

2. I expected a President to be
in charge. You know, the one I expected to change things when he was elected and realized what a clusterfuck the wars and the economy are. That one.

3. He is taking the advice of his most-trusted advisers...
and he is then making the decision.

4. Obama owns this, he promised it. Taking the advice doesn't mean that they made the decision.
I don't understand why people here continually praise Obama for what they see as good decisions but say he was held hostage by evil doers when he makes bad decisions.

Obama made this decision a long ass time a go.

Accept that fact. Quit holding on to the devil made him do it. He promised that shit in the campaign and he is delivering.

6. Yes, he made the decision...
But you can bet that Gates, Petraeus, and McChrystal all support it. He has yet to defy these folks. So who's really running the show??

9. So, Obama is a weak-kneed sucker and he's not in control. You know that is what you're saying.
Edited on Tue Dec-01-09 12:24 PM by xultar
I just want to make that ultra clear.

This is what you are saying....yes, I'm putting it in Xultar terms...but you're saying it.
Obama is just a pretty little play thing and he is functioning as Gates, Petraeus, and McChrystall's prison bitch.
Obama is being controlled by Gates, Petraeus, and McChrystall.
Obama doesn't have the guts to stand up to Gates, Petraeus, and McChrystall.
Obama agrees there for Gates, Petraeus, and McChrystall are in charge.

Are you sure you want to stick to that logic?

15. So, you'd rather belive complete fiction than the truth...that Obama made this decision
of his own free will.

5. He is in charge. Why can't people see that? They only want to credit him for the
good shit and give him a pass for the bad shit.

11. I give no passes.
He is very much in charge. I just want to see the smart man I helped elect. By now he has to see what the truth is about his war in Afghanistan. Yeah, I know he said he would focus on Afghanistan, I just expect better now that he is privy to more information.

in the person of President Obama.

And as usual, a predictable small number here will have heard whatever they want to hear.

19. Nope. "The Buck stops here." is still effect as far as I'm concerned.
Whereas, "I'll take the responsibility, but not the blame" isn't. I'm of the quaint notion that we are to hold our politicians accountable for their actions and words.
