Grinch steals Salvation Army kettle, saying 'I hate Christmas'
Grinch steals Salvation Army kettle, saying 'I hate Christmas'

A Toledo man was arrested early this morning in the robbery of a Salvation Army volunteer.

The Maumee police department said an arrest warrant had been issued yesterday for Shawn P. Krieger, 44, of Geneva Street in Toledo, and that he was arrested in the early morning hours today.

MAUMEE, Ohio -- Police in northwest Ohio say a man who claimed to hate Christmas swiped a Salvation Army red kettle full of donated money and pushed one of the charity's bell ringers to the ground when she tried to take it back.

Police in Maumee say the man grabbed the kettle Saturday evening outside a general store. The bell ringer grasped at the chain suspending the kettle and tried to take it back. But police say she was pushed down by the man, who told her: "I can't stand you and your bell-ringing. I hate Christmas." Police say the man then drove off in a pickup truck with the kettle and tripod it was hanging from.

1. What an asshole.
Wasn't bad enough to steal donations but he had to assault the bell ringer too? Loser.

3. If you hate Christmas, one can do a lot of other more productive things than steal.
What a vile person.

8. Actually, they do pretty good work for "jeebus warriors".
They are on the front lines after every natural disaster (Katrina included), operate some darned good services for the homeless in my area and manage to get most, if not all, of their promotional and administrative services donated.

They are one of my favorite orgs. Can't say that I share all of their beliefs, but I appreciate what they do.

9. thanks, I appreciate that.
I try to play the trumpet instead of ring the bell, but, of course, I cannot play for four hours. A few times, too, my valves froze and kept me from continuing.

Not everybody likes the trumpet either, but I mostly get positive feedback.

I also usually tell the story of when my brother was working at Kmart with a hangover, and he paid the guy $5 to STOP ringing the bell for five minutes.

They couldn't wait until after Halloween to start advertising Christmas and selling Christmas trees (at least in my hometown), so I shall do a little extra in my part in the War on Christmas.

It's payback time:
COMING SOON!!! Halloween 2010 will be here on October 31, 2010.

Bastards.
