4. Looks like something I've seen circulated on the Internet about President Obama
Just change the word "Communist" to "Socialist" or "Terrorist". And add in the birther idiot meme.

5. Uh, Kennedy more than just soured on Communism.
What's sad is that the Red Baiting STILL goes on today in 2009. It's like these same people are controlling the same message.

9. JFK was wrong on "missile removal-Cuba"??? How effing anti-American!
As much of a fiasco as the Bay of Pigs invasion, it was certainly anti-Communist in intent.

And how does going toe-to-toe with Kruschev over Soviet missiles based in Cuba get perceived as "wrong" or "communist"?

It's a real comfort to know that the kind of people who made this flyer have changed so dramatically over the decades. :sarcasm:

10. What org was responsible for those flyers?
Sounds like horseshit from the John Birchers, who I cite regularly as the 'intellectual' forebears of today's teabaggers.

12. The actual flyers
It was a primitive method of communication back in the dark ages before RW chain e-mails.

14. The handbills came from General Walker
General Walker

General Edwin Walker was an outspoken anti-communist, segregationist, and member of the John Birch Society. Walker was commanding officer of the Army's 24th Infantry Division based in West Germany and under NATO supreme command, but was relieved command by JFK in 1961 for distributing right-wing literature to his troops.

Walker resigned from the service and returned to his native Texas. He ran in the six-man Democratic gubernatorial primary in 1962 but lost to John Connally, who went on to win the race. When Walker came to Oswald's attention in February 1963, the general was making front page news by joining forces with an evangelist in an anti-Communist tour called "Operation Midnight Ride".

Oswald allegedly tried to kill Walker at one time
