Jane Branstetter Stranch to be United States Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit
Ordered Reported by Roll Call Vote, 15 - 4

WASHINGTON -- The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday easily approved the nomination of Nashville attorney Jane Branstetter Stranch to become a U.S. Circuit Court Judge for the Sixth Circuit.

The 15-4 vote means Stranch's nomination is now eligible for final consideration by the full Senate. Stranch was nominated by President Barack Obama in August. She breezed through her confirmation hearing before the Judiciary Committee in October.

Stranch is a Nashville native who earned her law degree in 1978 from Vanderbilt University and has practiced in her family's law firm since then. She has specialized in labor law and cases involving pension funds.
