Microsoft employees assault customers (with a dance)
Okay, I'm really glad I don't work at a Microsoft Store. What kind of cruel bastards make their employees dance in unison to show how happy they are to be selling Microsoft products? These workers are just happy to have jobs right now, and on top of it all they have to humiliate themselves or risk not looking like team players. Ugh.....

Spontaneity doesn't come naturally to everyone. Neither is it welcomed by everyone.

As the employees line up for this troubling, tourettesy Texas One-Step, one already feels a strange squeezing sensation on behalf of some of the customers.
Around the 1.15 mark, a little girl, her hair ponytailed with a yellow scrunchy, makes as if her vicinity has not been invaded by dancing, clapping, or stray employee sweat. She sits. She stares into her screen. The adults make fools of themselves.

Two minutes of constricting visual constipation are temporarily saved by three ladies who rush in from the mall to join in. These women, their purses held in place by a determined gravity, begin to show the employees just why Fergie's tunes are precursors to a fiery personal life.

1. I think Saturn used to do that when someone bought a car
One of my crankier coworkers had that happen to him when he bought a vehicle from them several years ago. Many of us would have paid to see that happen to him.

5. I think this makes me more uncomfortable
The employees are just "spontaneously" breaking into song, just to show how happy they are to be at work. Yay Microsoft!

Man, I wouldn't make it past rehearsal for that before running for the door. Just keep the paycheck, I'm outta here!

It's a shame when some people only do the bare minimum.

Seriously, this Microsoft policy of ordering employees to dance like trained monkeys is only going to result in shooting rampages.

8. Sweet bippy, I hate people.
I hate that people think that's a good idea. And I hate that people are so desperate for a job they'll sell their self-respect to do that.

Okay, now I understand the problem.

My wife just said to me, "That man makes how many millions of dollars a year, and all he had to do was lose his human dignity?".

11. We've trained the current generation to live in a Sesame Street world
I work in a rather large office building. If you walk through some of the floors, you'd think your were walking through a pre-school class. Hanging on the wall is as much paper-mache decorations as I had in kindergarten. Oaths and pledges as to how much people love their job and the customers. It's really quite bizarre.

13. Corporats should not try to be edgy and hip
Forcing your employees to be cute and SPONTANEOUS as a coporat strategy brainstormed by marketing is a yawner.

Improveverywhere does it so much better and has millions of hits on youtube to prove it. Looks like Microsoft is up to their usual game imitating others badly.

Except, not so much.

What's fun about being made to dance at work, when you're a retail salesperson? WTF?

29. I could think of a lot worse jobs than that...
If they applied for the job & were told they'd be dancing once in awhile & agreed, it's not a problem.

I'm having a hard time understanding why this is such a big issue for some of you.

20. Bloody hell! Isn't it bad enough that they probably spend their entire shift on their
feet but they insist on forcing them to do of all dances the bloody electric slide. For what? What fuck is wrong with people these days. People show up to do a fucking job they are not monkeys there to dance for anyone's amusement.

Johnny Rocket? I walked by one when they were doing a dance number. I was embarrassed for the employees. I rarely eat out except when traveling (and then mostly on the hoof), but decided never to eat there.
